He must have been part of the SEVENTY-TWO layoffs at Westwood One and Metro Traffic yesterday, nationwide. All the best to Ben, a class act and a true DFW radio legend!
BINGO! Ben retired "TWICE" before. Once to run a station in Longview-Tyler . That lasted a short time. He may have benn "grumpy" at times.but over all he is a nice fellow, with so much radio history behind him, including Nov.22.1963. Best wishes Ben!
There is also some speculation going that with the recent announcement that Metro-Shadow laid off 72 employees, Ben might have been caught up in that, and did not truly retired. John Wolff was missing in action yesterday afternoon at KRLD.

John Wolf is on vacation until Wednesday -- no other on-air Metro folks got the boot in DFW. Ben left because KLUV isn't using airborne traffic anymore.
