Bender's State Of Radio Address

MediceneMan said:
T.S.-"O.M.G." Sweetie I've seen a Unicorn ,....I Agree with You!

You are ABSOLUTELY Correct on Both of these from your earlier
Post-Tashas Said:
-"…But thankfully, many good radio groups remain"...and

-"There is plenty of bad, but I have found that something better"
"is usually waiting around the corner."

You are Correct on Both, Are you listening "B".

B's Take is a Rant, cause he is on the Beach, Broadly painting
Radio and the People in it at the beginning of this thread, is only blowing
off steam, I thought there was a rant page for that.

T.S.-Drinks??? How 'bout "So-Co and Lemon Juice", Yeah "Lemon Drops"
on the House, Dahlin!.............

what the hell are you talking about?

Medicineman, I will say this one more time, I am on the beach, because I choose. My job, which I am very good at, is stting on my ass. The reason I am not on the air is for the very reasons we have been discussing. I will say I'm sorry, I misunderstood an earlier post you made and made acomment on it, but will say if you communicate on the air as well as you do on here, I'll need a translator to enjoy your show, which I missed can be heard where? I did not get on here to get into a pissing match with anyone, like I said, what I wrote was an opinion, and yes I agree with Tasha, there are some great people working for some good stations run by smart companies. I got into radio because it was the greatest job on earth, outside of prostitution, and got a chance to work with some really smart people at some good stations. But when radio became a "job" is when I started really looking at what I was gonna do, and made my choice, not bitter or jealous about anyone being on the air while I'm not, REALLY! Tasha said it best about radio being in your blood, it is a damn infection, and maybe if the right situation pops up, I'll consider, but for right now I'm happy hanging out on the beach. This whole thing was not about me or anyone else, it was about the disease called radio!

To the drive by poster "medicine man"...whatever dude, I dont think radio will ever be the way it was, Im a child of the 80's and have seen just in that short ammount of time seen how much radio has declined. As a listener looking in on the industry the problems I see are related to the ownership rules. No group or company should own 7, 6,5, or even 4 signals in a market, and no more than 20 nationwide. The 1996 telecom whatever turned radio into a franchise buisness. A KISS-FM in every city, a MIX whatever in every city, ect ect. For radio to be effective it has to have a pulse of a city. Dont pipe in phantom jock STEVE, or JESSICA to your 6000 stations nation wide. I want a local shmuck talking about things people in our market can relate to and i want him/her there all shifts including 12a-6a.And air crazy listener calls, and converse with the other jocks on air. Tell me about that new song you just played, wheres that band out of, ect. And about the music, pick up a person's IPOD and your likely to find artist and or songs nobody's touching on FM, of the likes ARCADE FIRE, KEANE, AUGUSTANA or whatever. Probrably other artist for other demos but you get the picture. Dont just mimick every station in America with the same format's playlist.Be ballsy with breaking unknown artist. If i could afford a station Id buy one, but I cant so I just drag my thoughts on here and hope one day some where some one just gets it, until then I have to rely on my mp3 player and spread new music to my freinds via CDRs since they wont hear it on FM.

thanks for the compliment. i love sat radio that is true! i USE to love FM radio before it was screwed up by clear channel and the telcom act of 1996. and yes in 1996 i thought it was a good idea. we had 4 country stations in baton rouge. i was sure this would help get more formats. boy was i wrong!

Bender, good to hear from you. Enjoy the time off. Get a "real job". On second thought, those suck. Post another SOR address soon. Those of you that don't want to read it, well then, quite simply, don't.

Enjoy you time off...I have. And have fun keeping the sand out of the crack of your butt.
