I grew up listening to Don on WTLB. I have been lucky enough to work for him at two stations WSNY & WRUN/KG-104.
I know he started his career at WLFH in Little Falls while still in high school (same as me). His on air career included WTLB, WRUN, & WPTR. He spent one very rough night at WABC -according to the story he told me. Speaking of stories, I hope he has written some down. He was there at the birth of top 40 radio and knew 'em all.
