Benfer screwed!!!

Finally, someone stuck up to Benfer and those Cumulus jackasses. They've been going years getting away with their cheap antics and now it's finally caught up to them. This includes paying a producer $6/hour to produce Coop and Mikey. Hopefully, Benfer will be fired!

Benfer & Cumulus Got What They Deserved

What comes around goes around. Cumulus has killed 3-4 formats since taking over in Poughkeepsie and if you look at the results they haven't worked either. They went from Oldies to Country and that's bombed. They went from Sports to Spanish, that bombed. Then they went from Spanish to Disney and that's bombed too. Heck, they even decided to start taking WRRV's music and incorporating it into WPDH's rotation and while it's done well for PDH, it's also hurt RRV so what's really been accomplished there?

They also fired Coop right after his wife gave birth and had the nerve to send his family flowers at the hospital to say congratulations even though they knew they were going to can him. They forced out one of the best on-air jocks the area has ever had in Greg O'Brien because he didn't necessarily agree with all of their silly antics. They gave Bill Palmeri and Scott Carlin less than a month to prove their worth before giving them the boot to turn the reigns over to the bully Chuck Benfer. Not to mention they sent Mike Colvin packing who at last check was on the property before the building was built. They also wouldn't give a slight pay raise to McKay who was very good on RRV and was someone who Cumulus sang the praises of, they fired Jason Barrett who worked with Coop & Mikey/ESPN Radio and practically gave his soul to the place and they dropped Kimberly Kay soon after her wedding leaving Bob Miller in a position to have to take back Brian Jones or go solo.

Karlson and McKenzie should be applauded for getting out on their own terms because in this business no company gives you a 2 weeks notice to leave so why should the talent be expected to do anything different? They've also went from Poughkeepsie to Boston, that my friends is a major jump and shows how well they did during their run here in the Hudson Valley.

Those close to the situation will tell you Benfer is to blame for this. K&M informed the company they wouldn't renew their deal because they had a better offer on the table but they'd stay to help the station thru August and instead of doing the smart thing and keeping them around for a few weeks, Benfer the hot head tells them to get out. Congratulations Chuck, now you have a hole in morning drive, a black cloud over your top station and no immediate solution in sight. Plus Roof-A-Thon is just around the corner! Talk about picking the wrong time to let your emotions get in the way of business. Then again if you know Chuck, this is what you'd expect. Anyone still want to work for a company like this?

Sorry Chuck, too late

According to the message on the WPDH website..."We are deeply disappointed by their decision and we are continuing to make every effort to convince them to stay in Poughkeepsie."

Too late! K&M debut in Boston on WZLX on Monday. Not that they were really trying to keep them...

Up-Chuck Will Survive (Unfortunately)

M & K need to be applauded for their conviction and good judgment. But if you really think that Benfer will get kicked out, you have another thing coming. Benfer and Randy Turner have grabbed control of Pendell Road and the rest of the cluster (including the disastrous Y105 and polluting the old WFAS with Potown/PDH trash).

There are many jocks from Oldies 97, WRRV, WPDH, WEOK, etc. that would line up to take swings at Benfer and Turner. Benfer is a bully, Turner is a royal backstabber and both told massive lies every step of the way to getting possession of the cluster. Their bad decisions and lack of personnel management skills, however, are right in line with Cumulus and, unfortunately, radio industry practice. One only needs to look at Turner's practice of favoritism with the Sam Cambell - Brandy whatever monster he's created in his own image.

Meanwhile, Bob Miller survives ... Brian Jones survives ... Beth Christie's ghost can't be killed ... how do you think that happens? Ask Turner.

Should Benfer get what he deserves, I'll be there to kick dirt on his grave. I expect to be at the back of a very long line. Meanwhile, we can only hope.
