Even as a die-hard Bengals fan it's hard to notice the lack of energy on Bengals broadcasts that there are on many other teams' networks. Johansen is waaaay too laid back. I may be in the minority here but I'm a big Lapham fan. He's Mr. Bengal as far as I'm concerned. I do, however, notice his lack of actual questions in any interview.
Of all our announcers since Phil Samp left, my favorite was far and away Paul Keels. Wasn't a Ken Broo fan and Pete Arbogast was, well, just eh. Those things said, I don't know of any real viable alternatives to the current team.
