Benjamin Franklin: US President?

Evidently, a reporter at WROC did a story and referred to Ben Franklin as a "former president." That proves right there that Nexstar doesn't look for intelligence and/or common sense in reporters when they hire them.

No, actually it was the Anchor on the FOX show, Lia Lando. Her producer (also a cast off from FOX which 8 was forced to take) wrote up a story regarding $100 bill, and referred to Franklin as a former President, and Lando didn't correct it (if she even knew) and there it went over the air.

It was Lia Lando, who also called a certain congresswoman "Lois."

So much for proof-reading.
Would someone like to inform Lando and her producer that Elvis's face is not on the five dollar bill.

Are you sure this didn't happen on April 1st? That's as bad as Ch. 7 in Buffalo where a producer wrote a story saying that a homocide victim was "murdered to death". Also another one wrote a story about people celebrating flag day...during the winter. When questioned about it, she huffily replied that it said so on her calendar. A check showed the day was flag day...in Mexico. The institutions that gave these people their communications degrees must be laughing up their sleeves...

Welcome to the world of mediocrity.

And I thought the Columbia School of Broadcasting went out of business.
Mistakes happen, but that is why you have proof-readers and, supposedly, people with intelligence working in broadcasting. The two cases you site are perfect examples of where inexperienced and uneducated people are put into positions of responsibility. And the reason that these people are hired in the first place is because either they work for peanuts, smile pretty for the camera or are hired by individuals who have risen through the ranks, not by their merits, but through the Peter Principle.

I find it ironic that we're making fun of people's short-comings when you can't spell "homicide". It's spelled with an "i", not an "o". The "o" would imply that you're killing people of the same sex, in a slang-term sort of way.

Do we tell them that Alexander Hamilton ($10 bill) isn't a former president either? (He was the first Secretary Of The Treasury.)
______________
The 2006 New York Yankees...on to title #27!

Reminds me of the Firesign Theatre bit from "Everthing You Know Is Wrong" about pothead founding fathers.

"BENJAMIN FRANKLIN! THE ONLY PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES WHO WAS NEVER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!"
