Benne acquires Warrensburg stations

From RadioInsight - Benne converts its LMA of Warrensburg stations into a purchase, forming a cluster in west-central Missouri with Sedalia's KDRO(AM) and KPOW-FM.

Station Sales Week Of 7/24 (third paragraph)

Benne also owns stations in Eldon, Versailles, and Lake Ozark.

That slipped by my radar until earlier this week when a friend tipped me off to the transaction filing. Vance DeLosier, one of the partners in KOKO/KWKJ, died last year, and Benne has been running the station since. From what I've been told, DeLosier asked for Benne's help after he was diagnosed as he knew what was coming.

Greg Hassler, the other half of ownership there, has remained with the operation. If he doesn't stay on after the deal closes, it will probably have been his decision. I've been told he has been helpful and has a good relationship with UCM, which is making the stations money. I encountered him when he was first launching the FM about 25 years ago. He seemed like a genuinely nice person who didn't have much knowledge of running a radio station. If I remember correctly, his main business was property management.

I've also been told the stations will continue to broadcast out of their current studios in Warrensburg, at least for the foreseeable future, but sales will be handled out of Sedalia.
