Benny Is Punctual But Unintelligible

Mystery lyric of the day:

Benny's a punctual plumber
(unintelligible)
866 That's his prefix
Then 867-5309

My AM radio has tried to deliver the lyric but just isn't. Or I am just getting old. Maybe someone with HD or hearing it in the studio cans will know.

Thanks for playing.

Google is your best friend. The song is by Tommy Tutone. The lyrics are as follows:

Hey...
Jenny, Jenny who can I turn to
You give me something I can hold on to
I know you'll think I'm like the others before
Who saw your name and number on the wall
Jenny I've got your number
I need to make you mine
Jenny don't change your number
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)

Jenny, Jenny you're the girl for me
You don't know me but you make me so happy
I tried to call you before
But I lost my nerve
I tried my imagination
But I was disturbed

Jenny I've got your number
I need to make you mine
Jenny don't change your number
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)

I got it (I got it), I got it
I got your number on the wall
I got it (I got it), I got it
For a good time call

Jenny don't change your number
I need to make you mine
Jenny I've got your number
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)

Hey...
Jenny don't change your number
I need to make you mine
Jenny I call your number
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)

Jenny, Jenny who can I turn to
For the price of a dime
I can always turn to you
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)
8 6 7-5 3 0 9 (8 6 7-5 3 0 9)

Noooooooo...he's not talking about Jenny. It's about Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, 866/867-5309. WBAP advertises them very frequently. There's probably more info on wbap.com under their advertisers link.

Anybody remember when Tutone's record company activated 867-5309 numbers in major cities (including Dallas---Plano, to be exact) when that song came out in 1982? You would call it and, as they put it, "get a special message from Jenny."

The one spot I can't understand is Choctaw Casinos. It doesn't play well on AM. For months, I thought the jingle was saying "Hot stuff" (not the Donna Summer version, mind you.)

Right on Mike. It's a catchy commercial but the funky double-tracked second lyric doesn't translate well on AM.
