ALL ACCESS has learned that MIKE BENSON is out at the CITADEL/BATON ROUGE cluster, where he served as OM for Urban AC KQVL (Q106) and Urban WEMZ (MAX 94.1) No word on a replacement yet.

He wasn't there long, was he? Didn't he start earlier this year?

He was responsible for the demise of 93.7, 103, and 1300. Or, at the very least, responsible for implementing the corporate plan that that accomplished their eventual demise. See what happens when you accept authority without question? When it hits the fan, it blows your way.

Let's have a battle like when I used to work there in the cane field..."13 WIBR vs. 91 WLCS!"

910AM can probably be bought for a song, although it has transmitter site issues. As for 1300AM, the building is just sitting there, empty, next to those towers in the ol' cane field. Citadel might be willing to unload it, just to relieve itself of having to pay the rent.

Weerdo...got any spare change? Let's buy those things, and hire some of the old jocks. Probably wouldn't make any money, but it would sure as hell be a lotta fun.

Yeah, like the fact that it's under a Walmart parking lot (grumble).

> As for 1300AM ... sure as hell be a lotta fun.

Hmmm... fun. Like trying get the rf out of everything in the building. Or engineering one of Tim Brando's football games in Denham Springs and realizing that we cannot hear the *&^% nighttime signal. Or switching the 5KW into the wire-cage dummy load, creating a nice bright (and talking) arc.

Actually, that was fun. And a joy to work for Mr. Earle.

BMP Radio of San Antonio
(CE @ WIBR circa 1980)

Spare change...hell I'm homeless after Katrina and still NOTTA from FEMA (Fix Everything My ASS)! But we're all survivors...that's what counts...

Ah the memories...worked for ol' cigar totin' Gene Nelson/Lamar Simmons at 'LCS and Bob Earle/Bob Furlow at 'IBR, fresh outta LSU.
