Benton County Tornado Coverage

> How was the radio coverage of the tornado warnings in Benton
> County 3-12-06?
>

Clear Channel didn't do anything that I could hear... I tuned into Magic 107.9 three different times between 9:50 and 11:00 before I got out of the coverage area and they were running Delilah... I lost them at Morrilton...

The Colonel was covering it on KURM... I listened on hold for a little while when I called up there to check on someone. When the ol' newsman comes out in him, "The Mighty 790/100.3" can cook during times like this. Mayor Steve Womack was on with him and they had all the officials from across the county and on the spot reports.

Let me get this straight. You were listening to Delilah all the way to Morrilton? I'd take my chances with the tornado before listening to her.

Here's an interesting idea... Fred Baker taking requests and dedications and playing love songs... during a tornado!

wouldn't happen. it would interfere with that 'severe weather warning' bed that he's got. <P ID="signature">______________

KURM still had the best coverage. Everyone else in this market was voice tracked or automation, including the company that I work for. KURM was on top of it. Got to give him credit for that.

I never fail to laugh when during the midst of the tornado warning he declares that "AM 79 is your foul weather friend!" If you could take KURM's news coverage (with much shorter bites) and KFAY's lineup adding Hannity in the afternoon... You'd have a top 5 station just about every time.

"Newsradio 94-9" anyone??

It may be a minor point, but it's not an article it's a column. What's the difference? An article is reporting on a news story. A column is (usually) 1 person's opinion. And opinions, to paraphrase my friend Butch, are like elbows, most people got at least 1.
