A question for the East Coast folks on this board (especially those in New England): Have any of you ever picked up a Bermuda station. I live near Boston and DX the AM band from time-to-time. It occurred to me out of nowhere today that I had never logged a Bermuda station, which shouldn't be too hard to do considering it's a straight salt-water path from the island to the U.S. East Coast. A Google search lists 1160, 1230, 1280, 1340, and 1450 as the AM frequencies there. Who has heard any of this? For that matter, if there's anybody reading in Bermuda, what U.S. stations have you received? (I imagine WBZ 1030 is a given.)

Bermuda

I DXed for two days near Cape Hatteras, NC. last month and had a weak but readable signal from Bermuda on 1280 carrying programming from the Bible Broadcasting Network. This was heard at 0100 UTC. Minutes later 1280 was taken over by the Puerto Rico "Noti Uno!" station. I tried for Bermuda during the day but wasn't successful. Should be possible from your area with a good directional antenna, unless you have strong locals on these channels to contend with?
Several people have reported daytime reception in Bermuda of several US station such as WINS & WCBS. There may have been more that I can't recall.

In the Sixties, the regular was ZBM1, (said with a 'Zed'), which parked most nights quite comfortaby on 1235 kHz and threw a nice signal onto Long Island.
ZFB1 on 960 was another from Bermuda. I have them logged as a VOA station. Probably the logging was from those more frigid Cold War years. The only overnight mainland stations in the Northeast U.S. on 960 Monday mornings -- prime DX time -- were two from Canada and the occasional WFIR Roanoke. Many stations didn't operate with their audio cranked anywhere near the level it later was to reach, so perhaps this is one reason ZFB1;s reception wasn't as far as it could've been.
There was a ZBM2, iIrc, but I don't know their frequency. ZBM1 itself later moved to 1230.
And perhaps someone knows the power of those three Bermuda stations back then? To Long Island it was pretty much a water-path thing, much like some Long Island stations were Bermuda regulars. Especially WGLI 1290, a roaring Top 40 which sent most of their pattern right that way in the first place. But I don't recall any of the Bermuda AMers being a real shore-blaster at Jones Beach, so the powers must not have been that high.

I was in Bermuda in 2005 & I reported some of what I heard in the day, on this site and on www.wtfda.info , with mp3's there.
I do know the question, though...who in the US has heard Bermuda. I am sure I heard the BBC WS on 1160 back in the early 90s or so from Florida.
I myself would like to receive some Bermuda airchecks. Apparently there is nobody in BDA who has subscribed here.
I recommend BDA to any would-be DXer with a superior AM radio & loop antenna. You'll be amazed what you will catch, even in daytime! However......you best have some loot to spare. It is not cheap living there, OR staying there.

Note BBC WS for Bermuda is listed on 1450 as opposed to 1160. If BBC WS is relayed on 1160 then this is probably what I had, but I can't be sure now.

1450 is "1450 AM Gold," another VSB station (as is BBC 1160). Possibly 1450 airs a small 5-minute BBC news presentation a few times a day.
In fact, it's 1450 AM Gold that I'd like airchecks of, more than any other BDA station.
More on the VSB stations at www.vsbbermuda.com .....the only streaming is the daily morning news.
www.hott1075.com & www.power95.bm are the only continuous BDA streams for now.

And this is what I now presume to be VSB with the BBC World Service on 1160. There could be a local ID at second 11 in this clip but it's difficult to copy:
