D.R., your Howie post was well reasoned. Perhaps the Herald should hire you rather than that lame brain Heslam, who, when she isn't taking dictation from Howie, actually gives credence to Maloney's rantings. There is no doubt in my mind that Brian will maintain his perfect record and be wrong yet again. Imus will not appear on WRKO. In fact, I suspect that Lesser Media (nothing against them personally, just a cheap shot I couldn't resist after yet another Dewey beats Truman debacle), will be his final resting place once Howie comes to his senses and returns to WRKO. Peter Smyth will wipe the egg off his face and re-sign Imus because it is the best thing for his business.
(For those that don't know what I am talking about, Brian Maloney, quoted in Jessica Heslam's piece, writes not only "The Radio Equalizer", but also "SaveWRKO", an anti-Entercom gripefest that he uses as an outlet to spew his hatred for a company that he worked for in Seattle and parted with on poor terms. Take a look at the blog (you're welcome for the free plug, Brian) and judge for yourself - what kind of writer takes a quote from someone this biased and doesn't put it in context? Lazy, lazy, Jessica - I'd suggest that she should think for herself, but I am not sure she's capable.)
I have no idea where McGuirk will end up in all this, but a solo gig on WRKO doesn't seem likely to me. Going forward, assuming Howie's eventual return, WRKO has Finneran, who finally passed Scotto's #'s year over year in A25-54, though along with 10-12, it still needs work. Rush 12-3 heading into an election cycle should be great radio (whether we agree with him or not), Howie in the afternoon, performing solidly, and the World Champion Boston Red Sox for six months a year.
