Considering that these media reach a good 35-40% of the public who get their news from the media, how exactly is this story being overlooked? In fact the Chronicle gave the story a jump page, which effectively doubled its potential readership.

I read the link to the ABC 7 news story with the transcript and it did sound very bad for Bernie. In fact the ABC 7 reporter even stated that. I read the transcript again and after thinking aobut this is what I concluded:

Both of these people are actors and they were playing a role other than themselves. Bernie sounded so "put on" and also excited that he found someone to engage in this pretend dialalog.

The woman did not sound like much of a dominatrix. In fact if Bernie wanted to go on line with a dominatrix he should have connected with a woman in the City. All the woman did was call him a slave a few times. She is not for real and not even a good actress.

You read that entire thing (http://bobfreemanboard.com/showthread.php?t=11150) and the only thing you took from it is that Bernie Ward should have picked a better online dominatrix? Are you ------- KIDDING me?

What I do not understand is the pictures and how they fit in the big picture. If fact the pictures do not even match the pretend dialalog of "a slave and a dominatrix". There are a lot of the facts of this story that we have not heard.

We would all like to know now what his purpose was in sending thoses pictures, however at this point there is not enough information to predict the outcome of the trial.

But if it was Savage or Rush......it would be reported over more then a drop of a bucket like their doing for the Ward story. Yes it was reported by TV and newspapers, but there is so much you can hide from the public from not reporting it at all.

Both Savage/Weiner and Rush are national celebrities; Bernie Ward is not. I think that's a big difference right there. The other difference is the degree of cover-up. Let's look at the facts:

Rush Limbaugh: Claimed that his ear problem was due to some unknown reason when it really had to do with an overdose of oxycontin. Instead of admitting his drug use he sought pity over his hearing problem. And then "miraculously" his problems were solved (that is, he cut back on his drug use). Then he's busted for sending his maid out to buy his drugs from the street. At first he denies that he had anything to do with it (effectively blaming his maid for the drugs in his house), and when he could no longer blame her, he admitted that he had a drug problem, supposedly due to a back injury. However, nobody seems to remember him mentioning a back problem prior to this. So, at every step of the way he's either denying something, blaming somebody, or asking for pity.

Bernie Ward: Was charged with sending a couple pictures via his AOL account. He admitted that he did this.

So, which is the bigger story? Rush, obviously.

Pain Killers for a Back Injury is not as sinful....as child molesting. Yes it's another form of addiction....more self - destructive then to a child. It's not like he was a meth addict.
I have a distant family relative who is doing time to something very similiar to what Bernie did. He was chatting with someone who played a 13 year old girl....it led to meet at a mall somewhere....and the mistake he made was...he showed up down there.
In the state he resided in...you can chat child filth all you want online....until you follow through the entrapment as he did. The online chat like you read in the police report as Bernie's was pretty similiar, except it was to a ficticious 13 year old girl. In Bernie's case....he downloaded pictures with the conversation....sick enough. Now if they can entrap Rosie O' Donell for child molestation....they make a perfect pair together...if they can fit in the same cell.

Wow, your post is chock full of all kinds of confusion.

First of all, it was Paula Poundstone, not Rosie O'Donnell.

Secondly, Ward was not charged with contacting (online or in person) anyone who was, or was pretending to be, a child.

The pictures? Being that possession of such material is a strict liability offense, Ward is #%&ed.

For the record, though, I think it was Michael Savage who first posted it. Not sure how he got it, but his show has almost been DEDICATED to Bernie lately.

Yesterday, I read the police report on Bernie Ward on The Smoking Gun. And I am heartbroken. I want to hear Bernie's side of this because I have some damn GOOD questions:

1. Why would he send this photo to a chat room dominatrix? THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A CHAT ROOM DOMINATRIX! A dominatrix is a woman who gets off by actually WATCHING men (sometimes women) being humiliated and forced to submit. A TRUE dominatrix usually has her own personal dungeon, a room, or basement made out as a faux torture chamber. If a dominatrix were online with her "slaves", wouldn't you think she'd DEMAND to see them on web cam? A dominatrix DEMANDS to be satisfied (she's like a wife, but with whips and leather.) Look, a dominatrix is much easier to research on the internet FIRST than kiddie porn.

2. Were these actually HIS kids and THEIR NAMES he was talking about in THIS context? If so, this doesn't sound like research. At all. Would any actual parent thinking about research on child pornography (a near IMPOSSIBILITY) these days even actually put themselves at risk (to say NOTHING of their children) by mentioning they ARE a parent and talking in even an allegorical way about them like that? Even if their names HAVE been changed.

3. Why did he not consult with law enforcement (AND his wife) FIRST. Knowing the gravity of this subject he was reseaching prior to his research? They would have been VALUABLE resources of information and advice. In fact, he could have had a lawyer with him to aid him and offer a tighter line of protection in whatever case could have come out of it (which he should have known BETTER - ESPECIALLY IN HIS LINE OF WORK!!) No one should investigate a white-hot topic like kiddie porn alone, MOST especially if THEY are parents themselves.

4. If he EVER found child pornography on the internet in the FIRST place, why did he NOT report it himself? To say NOTHING of uploading it to another source...

5. The details of the gay porn theater incident (likely fictional, as Bernie Ward is a recognizable face in San Fran and actual witnesses would have come forward a long time ago.) were a bit much. Even if made up. I don't think any dominatrix would have been all that interested. She'd usually have other things in mind.....

I still want to believe in Bernie Ward and I withold any judgement until the end of his trial. But if any of these questions does not have a logical answer (they do not seem to as they are), he will have hurt a LOT of people - myself included.

I know police reports CAN be manipulated and distorted. But what I want to know are the FACTS, 360 degrees of THE FACTS. I do see a LOT of problems with Bernie Ward's research defense. Because even in 2004, child pornography on the internet was an EXTREMELY SERIOUS matter and with all the news reports on it on KGO, ABC and countless other sources he had definately HAD to have heard by then, Bernie should have known better than to transmit any form of child pornography (especially considering he allegedly KNEW the ages of those in the photo) and to report what he downloaded to authorities. IMMEDIATALLY. Period.

And what about the woman in that photo? Has SHE been identified? WHO took that photo?

There are more questions than answers now. I have long loved and respected Bernie Ward, but this is EXTREMELY disturbing. Again, he made a LOT of breathtakingly STUPID moves here, but I want to hear the whole case for myself before I make any judgement......

I was wondering if anyone here heard Bernie's last show back in December and did he mention that he'd be gone for a while and why? I mean did he sort of say goodbye? If so, did he say it at the last moment or did he say it early that night, so that callers could respond? Did he even know it was to be his last show? Did he have any advance warning as to exactly when he'd be arrested? Maybe for the last three years he knew it could be any day, but he never knew when until it happened. Bernie did seem a little different to me during his Thanksgiving charity thing. Sort of desperate, saying "I beg you...." (for donations) and I had never heard him ask that way before. I thought it was pretty odd, but didn't know of course something this bad was coming. Did anyone else here notice any change in him near the end of his KGO days?

To the person that said I'm "obsessed" with Ward. I've made fewer comments on this case that many people and news outlets...including KGO-TV....you don't like the facts you here. We know when Paula Poundstone was in the news ..so it wasn't hard for people to find the tapes. Look at the way Ward dumped on Savage or Limpbaugh etc etc --now he should be treated special? he has hurt liberals and anti-war progressives more than anyone else. Why doesn't he drop out of public life for the sake or his family and left leaning people?

Apparently, Ward has contacted some of the charities he's dealt with over the years about a job..they are reluctant to hire him because of children at the centers....it would violate his probation, I can't get the police report on the savage site to come-up.


The bigger they are, the harder they fall, one and all. He's goin down big time, out for the count, a cell block diva in the making....
