KGO Radio's "Lion of the Left," former priest and late night talk show host, Bernie Ward, has been sentenced in Federal court to prison term of seven years and three months.
The announcement was made at 11:55 a.m.
Ward pleaded guilty to one charge of child pornography receipt and distribution in the spring and the sentencing came today.
He will serve his time at the Federal minimum security prison in Lompoc in Santa Barbara County.
The 57-year-old Ward was at KGO for nearly 25 years, both in the station's news department as well as on-air nightly from 10 - 1 as well as a three hour Sunday morning talk show, "God Talk."
The liberal talker was known for participating in many charitable fundraising causes throughout the Bay Area.
Prosecutors had sought a minimum 9 year term for Ward. He had pleaded for a minimum 5 year term. He could have received 20.
