Bernie Ward, The Next Birdman of Alcatraz?

The original defense from the Ward camp was that it was just "one photo" which was downloaded for purposes of research for his 'book'. But since they found well over 100 pictures on his AOL account- many of which were reportedly pretty awful- it means that he's going to be locked up for a very long time. There is a pretty big difference between downloading an image or two for research and having 100+ on your e-mail account...and don't forget- he was sending them around to others too. Someone just doing 'research' wouldn't have sent them around to others.

I was really hoping this was just a matter of bad judgement on Bernie's part, but instead it looks like he is the real deal. He should be happy he ONLY got nine years. I think they'll throw the book at him.
 
Personnally,, I never listened to him, however if Im going to listen to talk radio, theres only one guy out there whos worth listening to, Michael Savage,, This guy rules afternoon drive, at least on talk radio KNEW must have ratings that go thru the roof! Savage is a "Gold Mine' for KNEW!!! Kenny in Concord ,,,,,,,,,,, by the time Bernie is out, Savage will have most of his listeners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Kenny, if you actually think Bernie listeners will go to Savage, then you are not as smart as you think you are.
 
I was hoping Bernie was innocent...but the evidence sure piled up, didn't it? Cya, Dude...

Too bad...I enjoyed listening to Bernie...not because I'm a liberal (not), but because he was entertaining. Now, he's just scum.

Uh...not to mention that the Savage Weiner is on in the afternoon, and Bernie's time-slot was `10:00 PM - 1:00 AM.
 
FluxCapacitor, Im not smart, but you got to give Mike credit, hes in over 250 markets, hes squeaky clean, he speaks the truth, and hes been on radio for 15 years. hes made quite a name for himself, and hes given KNEW a Real Blast in the ratings! I really doubt bernie will ever be back in radio! Mike didnt do him any favors last week on his show concerning bernies sentancing! I think savage will be around quite a while, hes probably got enough money to buy a radio station! I think it safe to say hes a millionare over and over, hes got alot of loyal listeners! Kenny in Concord,, and hes got a really high energy Top of the hour jingle for his show!
 
Thats not the point Kenny. You make the assertion that Bernie's listeners will convert to Savage. they are poles apart and it will not happen. Not to mention they occupy different time slots. im not questioning savages talent or whether or not he has the chops to make it in the biz.

At the risk of turning this thread into a long debate about Weiner..uh, I mean "Savage" - a couple of points: he is not "squeaky clean," he's got a past and it's not particularly consistent with his current image, or flattering in that context.

Yes - he's made a name for himself and has built a loyal following. But keep in mind, he's done it the easiest way possible - by being outrageous, over the top, and extreme in his views. It's a lot easier attracting ratings the way he's done it, than by having more complex and nuanced viewpoints, like a Ronn Owens or a Gene Burns. When you're a "Savage," even the stupid things you do (getting kicked off MSNBC for wishing gay people dead, having your lawsuit against Muslims thrown out of court) helps build the audience for the radio show.

Savage appeals to the same audience as people like Joe Pyne, Morton Downey Jr., and Wally George did in decades past...and Bill O'Reilly does now. Actually, I hesitate to put O'Reilly in that same category because he's capable of being reasonable at times, and doesn't take himself as seriously as Savage does.

Yes - he's gotten ratings for KNEW, but only during the Michael Savage program. As near as I can tell, the station is a loser in every other time slot.

Finally, I've got to ask - Why the h - e - double - hockey sticks would he want to buy a radio station? Because he needs migraine headaches? He's making a fortune spewing bile for three hours a day - probably from a luxurious studio in the 2,000 sq. ft pool house of his Marin County mansion.

There are a lot of other right wing hosts who make more sense and are a lot more articulate - Lee Rodgers and Limbaugh are two examples.
 
Hey Kenny in Concord, I hope you are sitting down because I just got word that KGO has hired John MacFlannagan to be Bernie's replacement. They are going to make the announcement tomorrow at 4:45
 
DominoRippy, At least get his name right, John Mack Flanagan,, If he wound up on KGO I would cancel my Sirius Sub,, of all guys to wind up on Sirius, Ron Parker,,, Were in trouble if XM 60s channel gets rid of Phlash Phelps and brings in Cammie Blackstone!! Bernie is sentenced tommorow,, Im sure Savage will cover this story! kenny in Concord

Hes doing something right, 350 markets!!!!!!!!! He tells it like it is, never has there ever been a guy with so much to say! I cant recollect ever seeing any billboards promoting Bernies Show, Like savage really needs promotion, Yesterday he donated $5,000 on air to Mrs Bologna, the wife of the the guy who was shot with his two sons, the lady was live on the air, Savage was about to breakdown! you would never see Ronn (drug Barn Owens) or any other bay Area talk show host donating $5,000 of his own money,, Hes going to still be around years to come, Im sure Savage wont be easy on bernie when he released in (SEVEN YEARS)!!!! Kenny - I don't have any idea - and I'm sure you don't either - about what charitable causes Ronn Owens supports, and how much money he donates. $5,000 is chump change to either Owens or Weiner. I'll give "Savage" the benefit of the doubt, and accept that he's capable of compassion, and is donating the money to help the widow during a very trying time in her life.

But don't forget that this tragedy is tailor made for rabble rousers like Savage. You know, "the left-wing bleeding heart San Francisco establishment bending over backwards to help illegal immigrant criminals while good regular people get slaughtered in the streets"...or something to that effect.

I too feel strongly that harboring illegal immigrant felons is wrong, and the city should somehow be held accountable for this tragedy. Frankly, even though I'm a San Francisco taxpayer, I hope she wins her lawsuit. But I don't need Savage to get me all whipped up into a frenzy.
