"Did I ever accuse you of being a DJ wannabe? I don't think so. I respect you because you always post thoughtful things, and I especially respect that you use your name rather than "DJ"-something (David Jackson excepted, of course) or some callsigns."
Thanks, I didn't actually think you accused me of being a DJ wannable, though I'll confess that I was - about age 11 - enthralled by Top 40 radio. As I remember, I wanted to be Bob Eubanks. Uh- the KRLA Eubanks not the later smarmy Newlywed Game guy. I got over it by my 20s, as I watched a few talented friends (much more talented that I probably would have been) get eaten up by the business.
"Bernie's is not so bad in comparison. Remember, it's just fantasy. People write books all the time about killing people, but that doesn't mean that they intend to go out and kill people. In fact, writers go to great lengths to write about really gruesome ways to do someone in, so much so that I stay away from fiction as a genre. But how many writers can you think of who have committed murders? None that I can think of. This is probably true of people who write about other antisocial acts as well, don't you think?
Yes, I do. Fair enough. I do appreciate your perspective. It's a very difficult subject, and people have difficulty getting past their emotions when they discuss it. As I said before though, my problem with the trading of child porn images (photographs or movies) is that they involved the exploitation of actual living children. Written fantasies, whether they're about child porn, murders, or whatever awful thing - do not require exploitation of actual living people.
