Many many many years ago, a kid worked overnights as the 'transmitter babysitter' for the then Gay - Bell stations in Montgomery. For a munificent $90 a week. One morning, the morning TV engineer came over to the radio side and noted 'This guy called from Tuscaloosa, he's looking for a Chief, you ought to go talk to him. Here's his number'. So, the kid did the interview and at the end of it, the owner, one Bert Bank, said "Well, I think you can handle the job. I can offer $1000 a month. Would that be suitable?" It was.
Unfortunately, Bert Left us last Monday. I'm still doin' it for money though.
