Any one interested in 1960 Era Jxn will find a book (Pub. in 2002) by Lorian Hemingway, A WORLD TURNED OVER...
It 's about the 1966(March 3rd...4:33 pm) "Candlestick" Tornado... many pages on Bert (he was at wjtv 1965-70) and several pages on Peter as he takes Ms Hemingway on a tour in his jeep of the So. Jxn area. Ms Hemingway is quite liberal and interjects MUCH Race in her book (she resides in Seattle).
book, but it is very interesting (U might recall that was when candidate Joe Bullock was killed while campaigning in Rankin Co.
Anyone around at that time will recall many names from the Past.

As someone directly impacted by that tornado (as a kid I saw it pass in the distance... South Jackson was never the same when we grew up... and oh by the way, Bullock was my Dad's boss), I give that book high marks. Her being a granddaughter of Ernest H. just adds to the credibility.

I also believe that was the first of two times that the big WLBT/WJDX-FM tower fell.
 
Dr: I, too, witnessed that event...from the 9th Floor of the FNB building...about 6 miles away...it was a frightning sight. JBI
