HUGE playlist covering both AC and Hot AC (plus Oldies on Fridays), lots of local news, and the only time they're not live is locally automated overnights and a few syndicated weekend shows. They've won several awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.
Dial Global AC sounds terrific, and I like Cumulus' "Hits and Favorites" (formerly Citadel/ABC/SMN "StarStation") feed as well.
Dial Global offers two AC feeds - the Total and the Local (which used to be Waitt Radio Networks' "AC Pure"). In my region, WLKM 95.9 FM Three Rivers is Total (as is WCSR Hillsdale 92.1 FM/1340 AM on weekends and late nights) and WBNO 100.9 FM Bryan, OH and WFRO 99.1 FM (Eagle 99) in Fremont, OH are Local. Both have excellent playlists.
As far as corporate-owned stations go, I nominate:
WLTW New York
KOST L.A.
Cars 108 (WCRZ) Flint, MI
WFMK Lansing, MI
WWRM Tampa, FL
WJXA Nashville, TN (I like the fact that they sound like a Nashville station by playing a few non-crossover country songs)
WNSN South Bend, IN (love the '80s weekends)
Crainbebo - FWIW, "Mad About You" is on Clear Channel's Premium Choice AC playlist.
Didn't Dial Global have their own before the merger with Jones? I seem to recall Format 41 being discontinued in 2006, which is ironic because America's Best Music was headed in that direction and could have kept on evolving. And maybe they didn't because the Timeless Favorites fiasco gave America's Best Music the opportunity to clean up.boombox said:I think the programmers who program Dial Global's music are based out of Seattle. Used to be part of the Jones Radio Networks / Broadcast Programming operation, now part of Dial Global. I could be wrong, though.
Actually, Easy 93.1 was one of the very first radio stations I heard back when I first got Internet at home. It's great that they stay fathful to their style, since the music is so tasteful.new_friends_gr said:When discussions of AC stations come up, I always have to mention WFEZ/Easy 93.1 out of Miami. It's an incredible supersoft AC that plays a lot of softer music (mainly from '70s, '80s, and '90s) that no other stations play anymore. A lot of these are songs that have become very obscure over the years.
Here's their website: http://www.easy93.com/
I'm obsessed with this station and stream it at work all the time.
