Best AC Stations

104.1 KAFE Bellingham is really good with their personalities. Also add KXXO 96.1 for their selection of music, and the Dial Global Pure AC network (which includes 102.1 KSWW Aberdeen and 97.3 KRVY in Starbuck/Willmar, MN) for their awesome AC selection. Lots of rare 1970s and '80s hits that NEVER get played on many ACs anymore.

One example is Belinda Carlisle's "Mad About You." Dial Global has it in semi-regular rotation, but I have NEVER heard another AC playing that song before. Go Dial Global!

I think the programmers who program Dial Global's music are based out of Seattle. Used to be part of the Jones Radio Networks / Broadcast Programming operation, now part of Dial Global. I could be wrong, though.

Alongside with WLYF (101.5 Lite FM)/Miami and WMGF (Magic 107.7)/Orlando, I'm willing to nominate WLMG (Magic 101.9)/New Orleans and WRVR (104.5 The River)/Memphis.

My favorite would be WLEN 103.9 FM in Adrian, MI. HUGE playlist covering both AC and Hot AC (plus Oldies on Fridays), lots of local news, and the only time they're not live is locally automated overnights and a few syndicated weekend shows. They've won several awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters.

Dial Global AC sounds terrific, and I like Cumulus' "Hits and Favorites" (formerly Citadel/ABC/SMN "StarStation") feed as well.

Dial Global offers two AC feeds - the Total and the Local (which used to be Waitt Radio Networks' "AC Pure"). In my region, WLKM 95.9 FM Three Rivers is Total (as is WCSR Hillsdale 92.1 FM/1340 AM on weekends and late nights) and WBNO 100.9 FM Bryan, OH and WFRO 99.1 FM (Eagle 99) in Fremont, OH are Local. Both have excellent playlists.

As far as corporate-owned stations go, I nominate:
WLTW New York
KOST L.A.
Cars 108 (WCRZ) Flint, MI
WFMK Lansing, MI
WWRM Tampa, FL
WJXA Nashville, TN (I like the fact that they sound like a Nashville station by playing a few non-crossover country songs)
WNSN South Bend, IN (love the '80s weekends)

Crainbebo - FWIW, "Mad About You" is on Clear Channel's Premium Choice AC playlist.

So which feed has Scott Laterno and Christian Wheel? Total or Local Dial Global? KRVY 97.3 in MN airs a morning show and same with KSWW 102.1 on the WA coast. Both Dial Global.

When discussions of AC stations come up, I always have to mention WFEZ/Easy 93.1 out of Miami. It's an incredible supersoft AC that plays a lot of softer music (mainly from '70s, '80s, and '90s) that no other stations play anymore. A lot of these are songs that have become very obscure over the years.

Here's their website: http://www.easy93.com/

I'm obsessed with this station and stream it at work all the time.

Didn't Dial Global have their own before the merger with Jones? I seem to recall Format 41 being discontinued in 2006, which is ironic because America's Best Music was headed in that direction and could have kept on evolving. And maybe they didn't because the Timeless Favorites fiasco gave America's Best Music the opportunity to clean up.

Actually, Easy 93.1 was one of the very first radio stations I heard back when I first got Internet at home. It's great that they stay fathful to their style, since the music is so tasteful.

I nominate Clear Channel's KSSK FM 92.3/AM 590 in the Honolulu market. I especially love their nightly Heart Songs show, featuring a soft blend of love songs.

WLIF 101.9 Here in Baltimore is one of the best, They have been AC since the early 90's....Although recently they have been leaning more to Hot AC which im not a fan of but my Favorite of all-time here in Baltimore was a station that was AC from 1981 to 1992 and that was WYST 92.3 or 92 Star but they were sold to Radio One and turned to Urban\Hip Hop

Yep, WLIF is a pretty decent AC owned by CBS. I wouldn't say it have been leaning more to Hot AC if I were to compare it to how other CBS AC's around the nation has been programmed lately. WRCH/Hartford is probably another decent CBS AC like WLIF. WLIF and WRCH are probably the two oldest leaning CBS AC's out of all the CBS AC's I know. I would say KVIL/Dallas-Ft. Worth would be one of CBS AC's that leans closest to Hot AC, since they retooled their AC format back in May.
