I'm somewhat new to the market (and radio in general really) and was wondering what all of you peeeps had to say. Is their enough real talent to do a Top Ten or would it be hard to rank just ten?

Who's bad?
Who's good?
Who's got potential?

Let's stir it up people!

[EDIT]

[EDIT-inflammatory]

I honestly think I am going to sit back and watch this one. This could get good. Real quick.

That's what I thought Gabba! I figured with how much bickering that goes on over basically nothing on the Lubbock boards, this would REALLY get 'em going. Maybe I should throw out a few of my opinions. I don't personally know most of these people...really.

Who's bad? Or should I say "Just not that good":

--That poor bas%!rd on 101 in middays. Shawn Dylan? Is he the son of the owners or something? I'm not trying to bag on the guy. I'm sure he's a good person...just a person who should not be allowed an air shift.

--Rex Andrews on KFYO in the mornings. Not a good show host. He's a good news guy though.

--Nealy Yates. Like fingernails on a chalk board. Although, I saw her once and she's HOTTTT.

--The Max guy on Z102 belongs in a strip club or something. Also, he sounds very angry.

--Dan Collins on 98.1.

--Mark Finkner on 1340

--Jackie Neil on Z102. Isn't she like 50 years old? Maybe she would sound better on 98.1

--Steve Dale. Wow. Just...wow.

Who's Good:

--Big. Only on FMX though. He scares my teenage neices on Z102.

--Armon Williams. He does a really good job during the football broadcasts. The Z102 morning would benefit from letting him talk more.

--Wes Nessman. All the FMX people are actually pretty good.

--Blake Ryan and Damon Scott on Mix100

--Landon King on 98.1

--Ryan Hyatt on 1340

--Kelly DiAngelo (D'Angelo?) on KLLL

--Mike Harvey on 98.1. I think he voicetracks his show though.

--Zander on 101.

Who has potential:

--Dwayne Wells on 98.1

--Chad Hastey. Sounds like a college radio host. Kind of comes off a little arrogant.

--Jerry Brownlow. Not alot of energy.

That's just a few I could think of off the top of my head.

Off the top of my head...

The Bad:
Mark Finkner on 1340...games and shows are just bad.
Jim Douglass and Randy Sanders on 950
Rex Andrew as a show host, good at news like Headcans said
The other guys show? Its a Saturday show on 1340
Sportsline is on the decline, and I'm sad to hear it.

The Good:
Tech Talk Show on 950..they know their stuff.
Big
Robert Pratt on 790...still new but doing good and says what he believes.
Ryan Hyatt on 1340...the best entertainment in the afternoons.
Wes Nessman
Landon King
CJ on Z102
Chad Hasty again on 790 on Saturdays, and now doing the morning show. Good to see new talent!

Potential:
Armon Williams- Is he a sports guy or morning zoo guy? And will he be critical of Tech?
Zander

I am just going to say that there are some I totally agree with. However, there are many that I don't agree with.

Yeah, I know thats not specific in anyway. However, it would probably be smart for me to just kick back and read this TOPIC.

There isn't any 'good' on air people in Lubbock, if there were, they wouldn't be in Lubbock. A few of these names mentioned have been on the air since the city charter was created. Some folks need to know when it's time to hang it up.

I don't really know any of these people, but here is my 2 cents FWIW

--That poor bas%!rd on 101 in middays. Shawn Dylan? Is he the son of the owners or something? I'm not trying to bag on the guy. I'm sure he's a good person...just a person who should not be allowed an air shift. That place is almost cult-like. The people that work there are highly inexperienced and green when they hire them. They like it that way so they can mold them into yes men and women. Experienced talent hired from outside the building usually never lasts there because they have the knowledge to question management. Those stations have produced mediocre talent at best in their history.

--Rex Andrews on KFYO in the mornings. Not a good show host. He's a good news guy though.

--Nealy Yates. Like fingernails on a chalk board. Although, I saw her once and she's HOTTTT. She's good at interacting with listeners and not being generic.

--The Max guy on Z102 belongs in a strip club or something. Also, he sounds very angry. Does anyone listen to Z102 anymore. That ship sank several years ago.

--Dan Collins on 98.1. Look on the bright side, we could have yet another piped in satellite morning show in his place.

--Mark Finkner on 1340 He sounds like his nose is stopped up, but seems to be knowledgeable on sports.

--Jackie Neil on Z102. Isn't she like 50 years old? Maybe she would sound better on 98.1 Or KDAV

--Steve Dale. Wow. Just...wow.Nothing to add to it

Who's Good:

--Big. Only on FMX though. He scares my teenage neices on Z102. Great rock jock. Shouldn't be on the air on anything but rock. FMX needs to find a full time slot for him. See previous reply about sunken ship as far as Z is concerned.

--Armon Williams. He does a really good job during the football broadcasts. The Z102 morning would benefit from letting him talk more. Armon should run from Z. Run Armon Run!

--Wes Nessman. All the FMX people are actually pretty good. A little arrogant, but one of the best in Lubbock

--Blake Ryan and Damon Scott on Mix100 Great delivery and always upbeat. Damon is an exception to the mediocre talent generalization about that building.

--Landon King on 98.1 Good for Lubbock. Sounds like he is yelling though.

--Ryan Hyatt on 1340

--Kelly DiAngelo (D'Angelo?) on KLLL Was much better on Mix.

--Mike Harvey on 98.1. I think he voicetracks his show though.

--Zander on 101. Great delivery. Kinda arrogant. Wouldn't expect to see him there for long. Outsiders usually don't last in that building.

Who has potential:

--Dwayne Wells on 98.1

--Chad Hastey. Sounds like a college radio host. Kind of comes off a little arrogant.

--Jerry Brownlow. Not alot of energy. As long as he has been around, I don't think the potential is going to develop. I've heard he is a nice guy.

That's just a few I could think of off the top of my head.
