Best antenna option for apartment DXing?

I'm trying to get some information as to what my best option would be for getting a good antenna set up inside an apartment for dxing. Right now I use amplified rabbit ears, which have proven okay (pulled in HD reception from 250 miles)....but I want something a little better.

The best option I have come across seems to be the Magnum Dynalab ST-2 FM antenna ( http://www.magnumdynalab.com/fmantenna-st2.htm ) . Does anyone know about this antenna...or have any suggestions as to what other options may exist?

I just hung a yagi from the ceiling in an unused room. Or the living room when I lived in a smaller place. Ugly as heck but very effective for pulling in 250 mile plus stuff dependably.

I considered this but can't think of a good way to suspend it from the ceiling in a manner which will allow me to rotate it and control the direction it is pointed.

How are you able to pull in TV 250 miles away? Is there tropo or is it normal?

It's HD radio that i'm referring to. However, it is during tropo and I have received HDTV from San Antonio (approx 200 miles) during past tropo periods.

That was FM - it was normal. I was in South Austin in an apartment on one of those hills, and had dependable Dallas reception 24/7 with a six element Radio Shack yagi. Turn it - I could get Houston like locals, and Beaumont was at the limit of reception.
