so my LPFM license has been granted and i'm ready to roll.

in former radio life - i have seen "scott studios", which allowed me to select by year, genre, artist, title, etc
It would also keep track of the last time a song was played - which i really liked.

I'd like something that can put my format together - for example

i may want 10 songs per hour
3 need to be new releases / heavy play
5 should be "mainstream" format tunes - from a preselected folder/directory
2 should be "deep tracks" - from a preselected folder/directory

i obviously will need fill / bump to fill up the remainder of my hour.

suggestions?
 
Stationplaylist.com Has music scheduler, voicetracking (Remote VT also), satellite controls, RDS output, even a request feature, and imports commercials with a third party traffic system. Rock solid, excellent support. Crash proof. It has been running on our commercial FM forever. Several commercial stations in Alabama also use it. Very affordable.

Test the demo. Youtube also training videos, and there is a support board on yahoo.

good news ; thanks for the lead. so, if i want to do say a national news feed each hour - must i have a satellite for that, or can i download something via ftp from somewhere each hour? i do IT for a living, so scripting is no big deal to me...
 
Yes It will do a scheduled ftp file, It will even open a website link and play. If you do scripting, you can make it do all kinds of neat things. Even with my limited computer knowledge, I 've got it to do some custom applications.
 
SRN news would probably be your only option. As a non commercial station, you won't be able to run any major news services because of the ads.
 
SRN has commercial content. They charge a fee for non-coms. USA radio is ok. They have worked with websites and LPs before.
FSN is a low cost solution, but they mostly do world news.
