Best car receiver for am reception & is HD ready?

I'm looking for a new car receiver that gets great AM reception and has either HD built in or is HD ready. Any recommendations?

Get two radios, an HD unit with an aux input, and another, analog tuned AM radio from the sixties, many of which can be tweaked to
cover 530-1710.

A modern unit will not let you tune the IF passband shifted to upper or lower sidebands to avoid noise or pick up higher audio frequencies.
Use the aux input for a signal off the detector of the old radio, that way your audio controls are all on the new unit.

You can have a great AM radio or an HD radio, but not both. :p

Well I'm trying to find something that has decent AM reception but still gets HD. I don't think I want a 60's style radio though. The best ones I can find so far are to get a Pioneer with an external HD tuner, or a JVC that has HD built in.

Zach and I are trying to tell you that the two constraints of the argument are mutually exclusive.
Nothing about modern AM auto radio design will give the reception (RF and IF-wise) of an old radio for great AM analog reception.
Unless you find one with switchable bandwidth that can tune in 1 khz steps or continuously.
Sorry but it's true. You probably thought I was trying to be funny, but I am dead serious.
So find the HD compatible unit that suits you, use it for FM, FM HD, AM HD, and when you want to use a real AM radio
turn on your old AM radio, and select the Aux input.
Of course, you'll have get an antenna splitter, and have a good ground to the auxilliary radio.
Even then the noise from an HD head may inject noise back out the antenna jack with as much as is going on such devices.
One of the reasons I keep driving my ancient cars is for the great AM radios.

You would think radios would get better AM reception with time and new technology. I guess they just don't care about AM listeners!

Can't find a HD Radio or HD Ready recivier, but Delco makes a LOT of good car radios. Tried it, and a low power 70 mile away station on 1110 AM (KWDB) came in very good. Also, a low powered TIS on 1610 10 miles away came in clearly.

I'm trying to look for Delco radios to buy, but apparently they are not easy to find! I also can't find any information on the specs which is driving me nuts..
