What is your favorite Contemporary Christian Music AC, CHR or ROCK station or network? Which one(s) is really pushing the boundries to improve the state of CCM? Which one do you monitor to see what they are up to?

I'm generally prone to whatever stations are coming in strongly on my FM radio. Besides frequenting the Fish, KLOVE, and Air 1, I am impressed by what I hear on Hope 107.9 from Albany, Oregon. We regularly enjoy hearing Scott and Sam in the Morning (seamlessly broadcast from CRISTA's KCMS in Seattle, while incorporating some local presence alongside them). Technology has certainly improved since my old AC station used to fire off carts with the piped-in jock saying OUR local ID's and slogans, before his/her voice chimed in off the satellite to backsell the last set: you could always tell the difference.

I also tend to lean toward stations that I'm able to get. I like WAY-FM and Air 1 the best since they have stations in parts of my area. I also like WNAZ in Nashville although I only get to hear them on trips to Nashville or over the web.

We have more than doubled our selection of Christian radio stations since moving from a market where I was forced to listen more on the internet (or watch Gospel Music Channel or Music Choice). One major internet loss IMHO is the end of KSBJ's "Enter His Gates," which I would frequently leave on.

I stream a few stellar stations online since all we have in my area is KLove and another local C-AC.

-WMKL 91.9 The Call in Miami plays the C-Rock I've been digging lately. Plus their morning girl is fun to listen to.
-Hangar Radio Z teamed up with His Radio to stream "The Z" as an HD signal and online. Full line up of jocks too
-KZZQ 99.5 Pulse FM was, IMO, better programmed before the switch from "Q" to "Pulse" - but I think adopoting the positive mainstream hits will do some good for His Kingdom. I just don't like to blur the line too much.
-89.7 outta Chi-town is cool to listen to at times. streaming at shine.fm

"The Z" is a really great station, well programmed and very slick sounding. I also think it's a good way to use HD-2, in conjunction with LPFM and translators, which allow the public to sample the HD2 on "real" FM, and at the same time the HD-2 gets local programming instead of something plugged in off the bird.

Thanks Ben and Johnathan!

We're working really hard to sound great, thanks for the props! ;D

We have many AC Christian Voices in Central Mississippi. In Forest, Ms we have all 3 Streams of American Family Radio and WMBU, which is Moody Broadcasting which is more inspirational. From Meridian, Ms we have WZKR, the Light, and K-Love (WLKO), we have from Jackson, Ms, WJXN-FM which is K-Love, and if you live closer in to Jackson, Ms,WHJT, Clinton,Ms, which is from Mississippi College and is Star 93.5 which has a tendacy to play a little more Rock. Out of all of this, I listen to K-Love out of Jackson which is a little weak, but the Meridian K-Love Station gets interferance from Jackson's Mix 98.7, and WZKR.

Typically when I think of those leading... of course you have the networks air1/klove and way fm respectively. Yes, they all do a great job and are respectable in trying to maintain a little bit of local flair. Station's to check out that aren't 'networks' if you haven't...

It's hard to meter who is 'pushing the envelope' and who's really leading the industry. I'd lean towards the z crew at WPOZ (zradio.org) through Dean O'neal's leadership. From what I've seen... the 'winning' teams are those that develop their team. It also doesn't hurt yo use resources like Tommy Kramer, Mr. Frost, and Alan Mason of goodratings... they seem to be working with all the industry leaders at the moment or recently.

There are several stations in the area I live in. My main favorite is K-Love, but I also like WZKR in Meridian, MS. The K-Love station I like is WJXN-FM from Jackson, Ms which comes in very faintly. We also have AFR in all three streams which sort of got old listening to. And we have WMBU in our area. But my favorite is K-Love from Jackson because WLKO, the other K-Love station in Meridian, Ms gets in a little interferance problem with a Adult Contemporary station in Jackson

I'll give a nod to Yes-FM in NW Ohio for top CHR/rock outfit... they've really bolstered their imaging in recent years and have a good selection of music: www.yeshome.com

Also, RadioU has always been very edgy musically... I'm not as big of a fan of the personalities anymore, but still some good music. www.radiou.com

For best AC... hmm... that's tough since I'm not a big fan of the AC format. Maybe WLAB Ft. Wayne, IN.

WLAB Star 88.3 in Fort Wayne is almost a Hot or Modern AC compared to most of the other Christian AC's in Indiana. And that's a good thing; they are offering a more up tempo, higher energy playlist for young families and moms who want something clean but fun on the dial.

I like to check out via streaming Star 99.1 in New York and KCMS in Seattle. Also, WONU in the Chicago area does a great job. In general, any station that has strong personalities with a relevant approach, focused music and positioning is great to listen to and take notes from. Locally, The Fish in Orange County is good.

I do like KCMS "Spirti 105-3" also.

Salem's "Today Christian Music" satellite feed is good too.

Lately I have heard a couple of more progressive Christian music stations that seem much more in line with mainstream radio instead. KPUL "Pulse 99-5" is definitely an interesting station for sure!

Someone in these forums also linked to The Z (not Z 88.3, which is good also, btw), but an HD-Channel instead. I thought that they were good also!

When I visited Nashville, I thought that WNAZ was good too!

The Bridge FM

Do you mean the one in Northern New Jersey that used to be "Jukebox Radio" IIRC? While its format was heavily talk and teaching, I seem to remember an interesting, somewhat free-form Christian Rock show airing Saturday overnight into Sunday morning.

I would most likely say K-LOVE but recently discovered Radio U (WUFM 88.7) based out of Columbus,Ohio on a Springfield translator at 98.7. A Christian metal version of Dayton/Beavercreek's WXEG "The X."
