best CHR station for west texas

Who Runs the best CHR station in west texas, includes ODESSA AMARILLO LUBBUCK ABELIENE EL PASO> .. Music wise and jinngles.

Lubbock has a very interesting CHR battle. Mix 100 uses the same jingle package as Clear Channel's Z100 New York (Market #1).
1025 KISS FM uses the same jingle package as Clear Channel's 102.7 KIIS FM Los Angeles (Market #2). Personally, I like what Mix is doing, as they have a more local feel. But they have a very tight playlist. KISS FM has has a deeper playlist, and more compression. Both are pitched at the same rate.

So you got New York style CHR and LA style CHR right here in West Texas. Right now, Lubbock has some very good Top 40 !!!!!!!

I would also go with XHTO, they sound much different than anyone else.

XHTO is probably the most unique. They do a really good job of creating a playlist that works wellin a city with a large Hispanic poulation. They will sometimes surprise with the occasional "Wow! This is different" record. They have a great retro lunch show at Noon.

Musically, I prefer Mix 100 over Kiss.

I find CHR out of Abilene to be boring.

The only thing I don't get about XHTO is why do they keep playing Spanish commercials?

They did the last time I was in El Paso... When they did have commercials, most were English but some were in Spanish.

My understanding is that the Mexican government requires it. What you're probably hearing are PSA's in Spanish, and I've been told Mexican broadcast licensees must air a certain amount of them everyday. XHTO, like all other Mexican licensed stations, is also required to air "La Hora Nacional" as well as speeches by Mexico's president, though they have an option to carry an English translation of the latter. They may also be required to air the Mexican national anthem once-a-day.

Stations along the border will run whatever pays in either language since the vast majority of the population is bilingual. If you want to reach all of the available customers you need to be prepared to make your best pitch in English and Spanish.
