Best conferences?

Hello all!

I was hoping some of you could recommend some of the better radio-related conferences to attend? Location not an issue, just looking for the best! So far I know of:

World Wide Radio Summit in LA
RAB/NAB in Dallas
Radio Days in Europe
Radio Ink Convergence

Any others would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and cheers :)

Tell us what your goal is. Are you looking for seminars on some subject? Do you want to see the equipment displays? Do you want to meet people and make friends that can help your business venture/career? Are you looking for prospective customers? Do you need to be able to impress people you talk with in the future by saying: "When I attended xxx Convention, I didn't find much interest in the style you are proposing."

I can't help you because I haven't been to a broadcaster's convention for a number of years, but people who CAN give you good advice might respond if they knew what your goal is.

Haven't been to the spring show in years. Attendance in the multi-thousands, sounds like a zoo.
Been to several radio shows in the past years. The fall radio show is a reasonable sized conference. Much more opportunity for networking, as well as a better chance to talk to exhibitors & session presenters.

Naturally, the Radio Show is very U.S. radio oriented. As posted above--what are you looking for?
With a name like Vanessa Markov you could be from Eastern Europe--or living five blocks from where I grew up outside Cleveland!

The Texas Association of Broadcasters convention in Austin is usually a winner. It is big enough to have a lot of interesting speakers and sessions as well as a lot of vendor booths. It's small enough that you can meet a lot of people and get to know them. This year, it is August 8 & 9 at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am a TAB member and I will be there.

Thanks everyone!

Goat Rodeo - our goal is both networking and prospecting. My company develops high-tech software solutions for radio - we had a wonderful experience at the WWRS in LA, where we met many well known consultants that encourage our product (and some that have expressed interest in partnerships) as well as a handful of potential customers including international radio networks.

@TomT - we are located in Toronto, Canada :)

@Chuck - thanks! This might be a silly question but..do you have to be a TAB member to attend?

I don't believe you have to be a TAB member to attend. In fact, I think the exhibits and a few of the seminars are free to anyone who is interested. It might be worth a phone call to find out for sure. Their phone number is: (512) 322-9944

The fall radio show, as I mentioned, probably has more opportunities for networking/prospecting then the spring show. The TAB--after all, Texas is a separate country-- :D--would also appear to be a good place to reach smaller group owners/managers.

Thanks Tom. You're referring to the one in Dallas in September, correct? If so, it's on our must-go list. Glad to get feedback from you that it is better for networking. We were very successful in the spring so the fall show should be an even bigger hit I'd hope!

The NAB Radio Show in Dallas will have more national "Movers & Shakers," while the TAB Convention has more actual station owners. Many are small Mom & Pop operations, but you'll also find people from Clear Channel, CBS, Townsquare, etc. It is a good cross section and quite friendly.

Both shows have their own appeal. I guess you'll be coming to Texas, one way or the other. :)

Good to know, Chuck. We are having a meeting about conferences on Friday and will definitely bring up that little piece of valuable information.

Out of sheer curiosity, do you own or work for a radio station?
