To play to the other side of Meep's popular topic, in this day and age of Premium Choice, liner cards, and PPM, who still shows up at the microphone with an entertaining personality and actual talent? Meaning when they crack the mic, you actually stay tuned to what they have to say...
My picks:
Johnny's House on XL: Johnny Magic and his crew still put on a popular and enjoyable morning show, and don't come across with fake laughter or "radio voices" chattering about nothing. The conversation is smart, timely, and enjoyable.
Domino on Sunny: His delivery and approach couldn't be more non-traditional from the Classic Hits/Oldies format - but it works and sounds great. He has a connection with his listeners that you just don't see anymore.
Beach Man on Sunny: He sounds like an old school boss jock, but in a good way. He always has great little tidbits on the artists, relates them to the audience, and you can tell he absolutely loves being on the air. Not sure if he has worked elsewhere or just enjoys his radio gig on weekends, but he's got great pipes and puts on a heck of a show on weekends when everyone else is deep into automation.
