Best DX ever

This morning around 8 AM I was flipping though the radio dail and picked up a signal on 88.1 FM, did not sound like KDNT. Heard a PSA during the commercial break that mentioned Harlem,MT and the calls KGVA. This is from my house in southern Tarrant County

Longest distance DX I've ever got on FM. Signal was in and out and faded away about 15 min later.

This was on a Sharper Image reciever with only an attached indoor antenna. Just thought I would share.

That's pretty amazing. There's a DX website that does weather forecasts for this kind of thing. (I would post the link if I could remember it) We are getting into the summer months where that kind of skip is more likely.

I was on the air in West Texas one morning and got a call from Seattle saying they could hear us.

Nice catch!!! Especially when KNTU is nearby up in Denton County.

DX'ing in the summer can be lots of fun.

I live in Lubbock now...and caught stations all over the place on Father's Day. I heard a station out of Montana, several out of Canada...a few out of Wisconsin and Michigan...one out of West Virginia. Also a couple out of Minnesota.

And also a couple out of Orlando, Florida.

I don't think I heard one station that was in Texas.

I caught a few of them on video (including a couple out of Canada) if you want to check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f_TO6g99sg

I also read on the Houston message board last week that someone caught a Montana station.

...'tis the season....apparently, K*LUV was heard loud and clear near Daytona Beach, Florida yesterday.

While living in the San Fernando Valley just north of LA, I picked up Channel 3 in Corpus one afternoon!

While on a trip in Blaine, Washington, I picked up KLIF 570 KC. I Have picked up many short wave stations DXing and AM's are also known to travel well also. Many stations in Texas on AM have been picked up that are not only in the U.S.A. but, in Mexico, Canada, and Cuba. The short wave band is international. :)

The FM stations and TV stations also skip due to atmospheric condition. The FM and TV stations are on higher freqencies so they you would more likely pick up more AM's in DX'ing than FM.

Enjoy

I have 3 DX stories on typical car radios...enjoy:

Early 90s in Paris, TX. Turned my radio to 94.5 expecting to hear The Edge. Instead, it was a CHR called "Q94." At first, I thought KDGE had changed formats. It was that clear! During a commercial break, I was able to determine that is was WRVQ in Richmond, Virginia. It lasted for at least 15 minutes.

Roughly 5 years ago, picked up WBGG/Miami in Greenville, TX. Didn't last long and was pretty staticy...but it was definetely Miami's "Big."

Roughly 4 years ago, was driving northbound on I-45 near Madisonville. Picked-up 98.7 WMZQ in Washington, DC. It was loud and clear for a good 10 minutes. Then, it suddenly disappeared.
