Best fm car radios for dx

Hey I'm getting a car soon and I was wondering what the best type of car has great fm radio reception. Also I would love RDS for the radio if at all possible.

No RDS or HD, but the Kia Soul's radio is quite sensitive! Good car for the $$$ too. Just bought one in May (2010 model).

Well, when it comes to stock car radios, I'm not sure! My '05 Honda Civic's stereo had a pretty good tuner, but the stereo was simple and had NO rds, which is why I replaced it with a JVC for awhile and then switched to the Kenwood that you see in the videos below. My parents have a Ford Expedition. The stock tuner in that car has horrible sensitivity. The car is an older model, however and the stereo does have RDS.

If you are interested in possibly spending a few extra bucks and buying a stereo at Best Buy, here's a sneak peek of the stations my stereo has been able to pull in.

I have the Kenwood eXcelon kdc-x693. It's a great stereo and does have RDS! However, when it comes to sensitivity, it is not very good with that. Thanks to the RDS, though, I'm able to catch more ID's then I was with my old Pioneer stereo that had a great tuner but no RDS.

The display can be difficult sometimes to read during the day. For example, if you have a local on 93.7, it will be difficult to DX on 93.5 or 93.9. But, RDS is a big plus on this stereo. But, I love this stereo and outside of dxing, the customization features are crazy.

Here's a few skip sessions I had with my stereo over the Summer from west Texas.

This first video I received several stations up north. A few RDS lock ins.

These two skip sessions, it's more difficult to read the stereo. Several RDS ID's from Southern California and northern Mexico.

Also, here's a tropo session I had in the Spring. Receiving Dallas, Waco, and Houston in Lubbock with RDS picked up on 93.3 in Houston.. Had trouble ID'ing the station out of Houston because it was in Spanish and the RDS was scrolling an AD.

I rented a 2010 Toyota Corolla back in late August for a trip to Yakima. Best FM sensitivity I've ever seen! Was picking up 101.5 KPLZ Seattle on that thing once in Yakima. Grundig G5? Just splatter from 101.7 KLES Prosser.

I'm still waiting for Blaupunkt, to come out with a production version of one of their 600i prototypes...the ultimate virtual DX at your finger tips. ;D

The Rav 4's radio is the same way. Although not as good as my Sony XDR-F1HD for first adjacent noise but still pretty darn close. Im pretty sure it has digital signal processing built in. AM is also great on the thing, some cars have massive engine interference.
