Mt. Beacon. The Revolutionary War soldiers were right, best line-of- sight mountain in the Hudson Valley. A great spot to warn
the locals, "The British Are Coming", using signal fires. A true 1600+ feet above sea level. Some multi-path from the mountain to
the South. Strong signals from this site to Newburgh/Beacon, Poughkeepsie and Middletown. Reception is good using a paper-clip
for an antenna from this chunk of basalt. WKIP-FM and then WSPK are on Mt. Beacon with a tower. Old-old timers will have to confirm
WKIP-FM on the mountain prior to 1964. A great site for microwave ( former HBO transmit site before they were available by satellite).
Atop Mt. Beacon, with a search antenna you could receive four channel "2"'s (NYC, Utica, Boston and Baltimore).
Mt. Zion (near Plattekill ). Former site of WEOK-FM and WPDH. Great look angle for both Poughkeepsie and Newburgh.
Overlook Mt. Good spot, but too much wasted RF to the NW. Trout, rocks and trees do not show up on the ratings.
