Best G/SP Signal?

Ha, CJ....When there was a power failure at the BofA building a couple of years ago or so they were so pre-occupied with getting the power back to the other stations WLFJ was left on with 50kW all night....man, what a monster. Signal was like a rock. I bet the distant WFAN listeners were going "what the heck is up?" LOL

That wasn't a couple years ago.. that was maybe.. maybe 18 months ago...... and yes WLFJ was stuck on at 50KW all night.............. was reported ripping up WFAN as far away as Toronto.

WLFJ got stuck on a few more times that year due to a faulty remote control.

sorry, my bad...mind has been rather boggled lately - you're right, it was last August after looking back. Does anybody know how far the signal went north before it started fighting with WFAN?

THAT was kind of a stressful 24 hours. Continental Engines provided a portable generator and temporary wiring up 7 floors to get our critical gear back on. Then, the next day was an "OH, CRAP" moment when I found out that the 660 AM TX had been on all night. You can bet that the controlling computer is now on a UPS :)! ANNNND, we now have a permanent generator which will power the entire studio/engineering floor. Oh, what a relief it is.

BTW, the building power failure occurred when the building's main bus bar between the Duke Energy transformer and the main building feed arced over and exploded. John Landrum and I heard it and then saw the plume of smoke.

I'm not sure what this counts for, but I've definitely picked up WFBC in/around Athens. WHZT also, but they're a bit spottier.
WHZT has good coverage towards Atlanta compared to the other area FMs, because they are in Seneca....what ever happened to their CP to move closer to Greenville/Spartanburg? They could probably be a big player if the signal covered the entire market well (top 5 even)....the ratings aren't bad now given the coverage. They barely come in many parts of Spartanburg.
Look at where WPEG is. I don't see how it's possible.

I remember hearing WBFM in Hickory. Good music.
That's even before the boost to 10,000 watts, long before The Peak.

WMUU sounded much better in my motel room in the mountains this year. I don't even think I picked it up before.

But around here, senor, no habla ingles.
That's supposed to be 100,000.

WPEG has problems in every direction, it seems. WBRF is too close, and too close to WIST 98.3, a very good country station. WQSM is to the east, just close enough to mess up WIST if I go south from where I live.
