What station has the best imaging in Jacksonville? Just curious on thoughts.

For years and years it seems that WAPE has sounded so slick. Very creative imaging ideas/writing/production. I don't even like pop music but if I'm tuning my radio and hear they're in a break, the volume goes up. Does anyone know if Matt Ray is still the production director over there?

he is and in my opinion you are on point with your assesment of his work.

Correct me if I'm wrong, But I think it's both Matt Ray and Chase Daniels who do it now... But Matt does most of it.

WAPE???? Are you deaf? they have some of the worst imaging I have ever heard. I've listened to radio stations all up and down the East coast...they are one of the worst...I've heard better CHR imaging in Valdosta than on WAPE...and Matt Ray...please...every single piece of imaging sounds like a Mike Davidson ford commercial...and chase daniels gimme a F*^&in break...

example of their poor imaging? here ya go...

"At WAPE we forward your request to our request department manager Hellen Wait...so if you'd like to make a request you can go the hell and wait."

That's real good...tell you listener to goto hell if they want to make a request. Everything they do over there sounds so gay...their bought contest...the 10,000 fugutive...i heard the same contest being run on KSLZ in St. Louis and it was imaged a thousand time better...actually made it tolerable to listen to. Props to Diego.

As far as APE they are old...tired and just stupid sounding Earl Mann belongs on a classic Rock and the voice chick is awful...i hope they don't pay for her...and the other new guy on there...HAHAHAHA!!! what a dork...they only cool guy they had on there was BC...and I think they canned him... They really need to tighten up and move themselves into the 21st century. you want good imaging...The point is good...planet rocks...Kiss kicks apes ass in the imaging department...There are a lot of other radio stations in Jacksonville that sound way better than ape...open up your ears and take a listen

Well now, tell us what you really think.

funny how in this paragraph you think matt ray is the worst imaging guy in the business...

> "you want good imaging...The point is good..."

yet here you think matt's work is "good"

very interesting...

and by the way, the planet basically uses PRE-PRODUCED imaging shells from Frost-Bytes imaging. while i think frost is awesome, i don't think that planet should be considered in this category because of the lack of actual original imaging.

of course Matt sounds good on the Point and even the Eagle...becuase they are older skewing stations and he gets it...with ape...missing the mark...every time...but that's just my opinion.

Please read the rest of my response so you can see how you are wrong in your assesment of Planet's imaging and how your "Pre Produced" comment relfects on almost all the stations here in Jacksonville.

In reagards to this statement, you are completly incorrect. All of Planet's imaging is produced right here in Jacksonville...It's all original...Yes I do use frostbytes... as well as a couple of others It's an imagaing service...it's no different than buying killer hertz CD or AV deli production elements...If you still don't believe that it is all original, I will be happy to show you the pro tools sessions.

hmmm...let's see...so per your statement WAPE has no original imaging becuase they use Premier's "Plug and Play" imaging service. (I know this for a fact because I am very good friends with the guys who produce Plug and Play CHR)

The Point is not original imaging becuse they use "Invasion" imaging service.

So here it is...I am the CSD for Clear Channel. I stand behind my work as being 100% MY WORK. I've taken off my mask and told you who I am...let's see if you can take off yours.

Why not that what a public forum is for?!...and last i checked...speaking ones opinion is one of the things that make this country great!

And arrogantly stated, as well! :)

Is he wrong 100% of the time? I mean, imaging is fun, but even the best imaging directors sometimes have to get their jobs done quickly, as I'm sure you know...

radiocraze won't. But I already have, and I can tell you that Mr. Craze is quite the creative imaging guy himself...a "rising star" in imaging, if you will.

Personally, I know my work at Cool (May 02-Nov 03) wasn't dazzling, but some of it was funny. It was more a case of finding the best ways to create within your parameters set by your PD - you've got the voice guy he selected, the libraries he made available, etc.. Though I enjoyed working on the stuff for Pat, it wasn't always easy to get my more creative ideas on the radio, and harder still to realize a lot of them with so much time being taken up with commercial production, etc. (not a problem you have, from what I understand) I did get dinged sometimes, but that's the point of him being the PD. It's his call.

I just find it really sad that you took such a hostile tact in responding to radiocraze.

Neither of you should be ripping your fellow CSDs - imaging people should stick together and root for each other (and steal liberally from each other if it's good...). We get enough crap from PDs and salespeople without complicating matters further. ;)

That's just my hippy (meaning wide hips, not granola) opinion, though. :)
