"BEST" JOCKS ON AIR IN VEGAS

Mark and Mercedes are far and above the most talented in this market. So much so, they're wasting their time here (in what... the 40th Market). They should be in L.A. (the #2 Market). When Charese Fruge left MIX to program Star 98.7 in L.A., I had thought for sure that she would have taken M&M with her. She did hire (former MIX P.M. Drive) Tom Mitchell, but for some unknown reason didn't take her top rated morning team. Around that same time period, is when I believe CBS offered and made their current contract with M&M to continue at MIX. I know it was for a hefty raise, (something like doubling their salaries...), but they may have settled on that one too quick. They must really love Vegas to continue on here. In L.A., Clear Channel owns KBIG which just did a flip to what is being called "MYFM", which is basically a Hot A.C. format that M&M would fit prefectly in. In addition to Clear Channel owning KBIG there, they also own Star 98.7. If the C.C.-G.M. were a smart fellow, he'd be doing his best (and possibly using Charese's help, "for the good of the Company") in luring M&M to their new "MYFM" station.

i thought she went to Denver??

She did, but now she's programming STAR/Los Angeles.

Foghead, Las Vegas is no longer market #40, it's #32. I don't blame M&M for staying here, they have a huge following here. Going to LA would be a gamble. It's far more ethnic than LV, their show might never catch on. Being a large fish in a large pond is better than being a small fish in a huge ocean..

Jay, I totally respect your opinions and actually look forward to your posts on this board, but my friend, this time we greatly differ on the subject. Why stay this large fish, when having the talent, the possibilities of becoming a Whale exist. First off, look at the (weak) competition they would be facing for their targeted audience in L.A. Within six months M&M would be leading the pack. And then the opportunity for attracting listeners from the other formats is there. This team could carry a station through all day parts. And then staying within radio, is a syndication deal better for them here or there? And then there's T.V. and movie possibilities in L.A. that aren't going to exist for them here. Look at the number of existing and former L.A. radio personalities who have made it these other areas. They're in their Prime. Still young enough, but at the same time experienced enough to make it really big. And then, if none of that panned out, put your tail between your legs and come on back to Vegas. If the MIX thing weren't available at that time, I'm sure they wouldn't have any trouble being welcomed back by a number of stations. You see your chance - you take it.

True, but they'd be so much better if they had a PD guiding them who understood good radio. That certainly wasn't Ms. Fruge, whose only talent appeared to be schmoozing record industry people and getting her name in the trades. There's more to radio than that. I don't even know who the PD is now, but I'm still not impressed.

Kevin Savage is the BEST in Las Vegas. A record breaking 33 nominations at the Nevada Broadcaster Awards Show and a total of 12 trophies in all including Radio Baron of The Year 2001, Man of The Year 1999, and Best Radio Bit of The Year in 1984.

ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!!!! KS1079 AKA Kevin Savage/Eric Roberts or should I call you EGO MAN....WOW!!! It's nice to know that there are still people in our industry that are SOOOOOO full of themselves.

P.S. How's your "BUDDY" Duncan doing? Using Simpsons characters, if Duncan were Mr. Burns you would be Smithers.

anyone who still thinks KS is savage at this point...youre gullible. lol
