Best KROQ Weekend in many years

So this weekend KROQ finally moved away from the corporate bore-fest and showed a tiny taste of the creativity that made them "World Famous."

They are doing a "Top 10" weekend, ranging from the Top 10 from a certain year (back to 91), Top 10 from a group (mostly big 90s acts), to "themed" Top 10s such as "Top 10 Teabagger Songs" (English bands), "Top 10 Songs About Colors," "Top 10 Ska Songs..." The latter even featured a JAM song!

And like a themed weekend should be, it's not uninterrupted - one top 10 after another.

....meanwhile over at another CBS station, KRTH is doing "Parade of Hits" weekend, which like most of their weekends, is the exact same playlist they always do. Not sure why they bother...

Themed weekends are what radio stations need to do, especially oldies & classic hits stations. Way to go KROQ, but KRTH?? Some ole stuff..KRTH needs to do what KRTH did in the 80's and that is to entertain its listeners on weekends, like #1 songs, like all 70's or a top 10 weekend..etc..Playing the same 60's & 70's classics over and over and over, all week & all weekend, disguised under a "Parade of Hits" weekend is just not the right way to do things..in my mind anyways!!

What about other formats?
I've heard a Top 40 do a One Hit Wonder Weekend on like Memorial Day and it was great... could something like this work on a Hot AC???
