Best Moments This Past Decade on This Board

I don't remember when I discovered this discussion board - I think around 2001(?). This has been a fun place to go to chill out during a little down time. We've had some interesting threads over the years. My memory's not so good anymore, but I do recall a few of the more interesting discussions.

The one that stands out most would be, IIRC, several various KB topics going at the same time when Entercom re-launched KB. It was winter 2003 -- easy to remember, the Iraq War was just getting going(unfortunately the war goes on, but KB's back to automation).

While we seem to be one of the more polite boards on radio-info, some of the occasional brouhahas were fun too. Executive pay at public broadcasting outlets and politics(destined for "take it outside") seemed to raise the level of anger from time to time :)

Thanks to all the regular contributors. Looking forward to more fun discussions in the next decade.

Oh I don't know - I think one of the best threads was the one about a job in Olean and how someone had a bad attitude by offering to voicetrack the shift...:)

But seriously now - I think one of the better volleys were the numerous 'BEN threads with Dirty Susan (or was it Filthy Susan?). Very entertaining.

I also think it's been awesome to see market veterans (no, make that market legends) taking time to post on this board.

And a special mention goes to Entercom's Mike Doyle - probably the only regional VP I've seen on R-I that isn't hiding behind a "handle" when posting.

Happy 2010!

I'm not sure it qualifies as "best," but there's certainly a "most memorable" award just waiting to go to Joann Nicole Lutz Distefano, or whoever "she" really was, for the utterly bizarre series of WJJL-related posts that culminated in the filing of an actual FCC application for transfer of the station license. How bizarre was THAT?

The Buffalo-Rochester board has had some compelling threads and provocative, humorous posts over the years. Scott, your contributions are appreciated as are those of SirRoxalot, Savage, Airtime, Debaser, Heyday, Qman, Nick, Reason, Giardina, Longwell, Magoo, Myers, Yugoidar, Aaron, BigA, Audio4TV, 9, Bob1370,McGrath alw, umtrr, Freebird, Paul Warren, Mike, RealJM, Doyle, Yezi, Eduardo, Rob, Skulker, Jibguy, Rad, Cowbell, WCWalker and so many others whose names I've omitted but surley will come to mind as soon as I press the "post" key. I wish all readers and posters a healthy, prosperous, Happy New Year.

My favorite threads are the thoughtful ones regarding Legends 102.7. i still re-read those fondly and realize that there are a lot of people who care enough about the business to offer their thoughts and helpful suggestions. i thank you and wish you all a happy and healthy new year.

This wasn't the best moment, but one I still remember; That being the sudden death of a dear friend of mine, Jenny Howell, and posting her passing on the Binghamton/Corning Board.

Jenny and I started our careers at the same radio station in Hammondsport back in the early 70s. And despite all the years that passed we still managed to keep in touch.

Memorable only in the fact that it won't go away: The Stiffs

I am happy The Stiffs won't die. No bankrupt talk, no battles between Big A and Rox, lots of good stories/memories and some forgotten songs as well. Long live The Stiffs! :)

Anyone know what happened to Joann? Wasn't she going to bring back WNIA or put the WNIA calls on WJJL when she took ownership? Yes, the whole thing was pretty bizarre.

Also wondering whatever happened to Dirty Susan(seemed to be a regular in the earlier years here). Maybe DS & Joann have changed handles on this board & are still among us.

This is one of the best boards on the site for good intelligent comments. While other boards get hostile or just lay there in apathy this one keeps going with good information and opinions. Thanks to all and Happy New Year!

That WJJL story sounds really bizarre. Wasn't the issue over WJJL servicing Niagara Falls over another town?

Anyways I've only been posting in these boars for well four and a half years now and perhaps the most memorable threads for me was the discussion a couple years ago when it was rumored a fundamentalist religious organization was poised to buy WWKB. One poster in support of the potential new owners tried to quote The Louvin Brothers but instead had a typo saying "Satin is real!"

You'd know if Filthy Susan was still around because she would take every opportunity to slam WBEN, Sandy and Tom Bauerle...usually without a clue as to what she was talking about.

I miss the old sign, created to look like the
NY-State Thruway (click this exit for Buffalo) this for (Rochester).

that "joanne" whomever they were, is no longer posting.
maybe reading, but a very disgruntled -x-employee..
of a buffalo-area station, interestingly enough, i'm not
saying, so it may/or may not be 'jjL. and no, its not me!

I will say, best improvement on this board is
my "penmanship" u can all read whut i b typin'!
ha ha ha. ( i can laugh at myself) but below is very serious:

I will confess some thing right now.
Something I'm worried about:

I have had a few concussions, and it
leads to communication breakdown,
in spoken word and here. If I take
longer than a normal time to write,
this is the result. If I write as I
think (as if I'm speaking on here),
it leads to confusion; or a speculation
of what the nature of my inquiry really is...

I'm sorry for the troubles I have had
posting on here, and that is why
I have Cut down, Alot. Saves everyone
alot of headaches...especially this author.

My new year's resolution: to post
so it is easier to understand. I
will TRY MY HARDEST to do so.
promise!
