Best Morning Show in Vermont

Ok... so, what's the BEST morning show in Vermont? Corm and the Coach? 98.9 WOKO? Mike & Chantal? Bob & Tom? Who's the best and why are they the "best". Leave Arbitron out of it.

There are so many local choices..
"Early EQX" with Doug and Amber
Bwian and Jack on WSYB
Jackie and DJVince1 (Why doesn't he use his best known handle here ??) on Z 97
Judy and Ken on Cat Country
Uncle Dave on WEBK
Bascom & Co. on WVNR

The best in Vermont...of course, you forgot about our friends to the south east in Brattleboro...I have to ask, however, did you mean your list to be your picks, or just a laundry list of morning shows in the Rutland market?

"Early EQX" with Doug and Amber
Not bad..kind of college sounding..

Bwian and Jack on WSYB
Small market radio at its best...It is a tired show, but it is what it is. It's solid...if you have a resporator, it is your number 1 preset, no doubt.

Jackie and DJVince1 (Why doesn't he use his best known handle here ??) on Z 97
His "best known handle?" See, here i want to take the obvious shot, just in good fun, but I will refrain....This one may actually have a little bit of a pulse in an otherwise flat market.

Judy and Ken on Cat Country
I mean...REALLY?? Comeon

Oh, I can't wait for the return of the I-Man!!

What station(s) do you think Imus is going to return to ?
I'll always give kudos to the local gang. EQX does a great job. I don't totally agree with your 'college sounding' description, Doug and Amber deliver a lot more polish than that. Unless your definition of 'college sounding' is differs than mine.

Brian and Jack, I'm sure, has received the lions share of disgruntled Imus listeners in the local area. I totally give Jackie and Vince (DJVince 1) on Z 97 credit for trying to be creative and innovative in working environment that appears to discourage that sort of contribution.

I too miss the I-Dude, though I bet the former stations will take a long hard look before adding the show. Nassau seems committed to FB & HW on it's rock branded stations.

Early EQX is my pick. Great music delivered by people who love it.

Woops... got too local with the limited selection of morning shows I offered initially. I'm in the Burlington area, so I didn't even consider Rutland or, for that matter, non-terrestrial radio.

There's a whole lot of radio outside the "People's Republic of Burlington", though these would be my picks if I lived around the 05401 zipcode.. Certainly Pete Powers on 99 The Buzz, he's a former EQXer and certainly knows his stuff. Mike and Chantel on WXXX, mass appealing, a bit egdy, and funny. ... Corm and the Coach, they are the best audio representitives of Burlington. Charlie and Ernie on WVMT, lots of tradition there, especially with Ernie..

My vote is for Uncle Dave on WEBK. Beyond that he has done one hell of a job reworking their music and bringing that station back to life!

I don't get the "Imus" fascination here...move along, irregardless of his impending "comeback", he's done, has been, will be...

Imus has not been relevant since the Clinton years...

And this has nothing to do with one's radio talent, but lets face it, the guy physically is a wreck...and what's the deal with the Cowboy get up? I mean is it me, or does he look like he's been embalmed? You know wwhen you see pictures of Stalin lying in his casket? Imus kinda looks like that.....

Once again, it is a mix of very predictable, funny, and kind of sad, the attacks that go on here...the lack of thoughtful, fact based reasoning...

Ok, lets take a moment to take in Peppers post. Before going on here, please look above and digest it.

Welcome back. The overall thing that strikes me is: ITS RADIO..who cares what he looks like. (Yea, I know...your fingers are a twitter wanting to type 'hes on tv too!!!) But lets not forget, this is radio first and foremost.

Diving deeper in this personal attack on Imus...What does his physical appearance have to do with his talent on the air, his presentation, or content?? Does it really matter that he wears a silly hat, and looks like death warmed over? I don't listen to him all dreamy eyed like he is Davy Jones. I listen for entertainment...content...information.

Pep-you looked like you wanted to actually have a thought when you mentioned relevance. You state he hasn't been "relevant since the Clinton years..." Great opening line...tell us WHY? Otherwise, it is the simple rambling of someone who probably is a flaming liberal, or had bad numbers against the I-man. You can say "I hate redheads." ok, the next part of a persuasive argument is to present supporting ideas and FACTS. perhaps you didn't feel well the say they covered public speaking.

Taking a shot or two, to add levity to an otherwise well thought out argument is quite a powerful tool. I would say this misses the mark.

Your allegation that he is over...see, here is the thing..I am sure that the folks a citadel have done their homework. They must not agree with your wide brush stroke that Imus no longer has value. I would assume they have done research, perceptual, and tons of other homework to ensure that he is worth the cost, both in salary and the headaches the folks from the special interest groups are going to fire their way.

All this having been said, my comments read like I work for the show, or I-man is really Uncle Don. Not the case. My quick defense is only a case in point for the feeble silly drive by shootings that occur all too often here in small town America.

I don't disagree that Imus has seen better years, not only in health, but in showmanship. After a while, the show draggs on, with the same cycle of guests (SEE THIS PEPPER, I AM SUPPPORTING MY STATEMENT WITH REASONS). There are only so many times I want to hear from Tim, Dusty, John and the crew of regulars. But the other bits, information, and analysis that are presented are very entertaining.

All of this being said, I would hope, and if it is true, I would weep for the state of our business, but I would hope that a syndicated show, regardless of who it is, would not win award for BEST MORNING SHOW IN VERMONT. If Imus or Stern won, it would be the BEST MORNING SHOW IN NYC. Get my drift??

Wow, Seacrest. That was a well thought out and inspiring comeback. It reminds me of me when I was more passionate about these sorts of things. I may not agree with everything you've said, but at least I can tolerate the alternate opinion because it did -- as you have attempted to educate others on -- have supporting statements regarding your opinion rather than a "shoot-your-mouth-off" approach.

I wish I still had it in me to be as vibrant as you are about everything. Maybe I'm just too far removed from it.

(BTW, I'm a Sirius listener now.)

Ummmmm... weren't we talking about best morning shows in Vermont (more spec. the Burl area)? Imus isn't even on the air now! C'mon people! Stay on topic!

Pepper-

Really? I rest my case.

12345678, aside from the clever user name, that I must give you creative props for, you are spot on!!

The I-Dude played well here in northern New England, it was more the type and quality of the listener vs. the number of listeners.. In short, total quality vs. quantity.. No other shows go after this affluent, educated, and truly 'upscale' listeners than "Imus in the Morning".. This audience has been like lost sheep since no other morning shows on terrestrial radio even come close to targeting this important group of people... That's your skinny on Imus..

hands down WTOS-FM
all the others suck IMHO and talk way too much
thank you

There was a time when this was absolutely true. However over his last few years he was getting more and more sophomoric and his "Nappy headed...." comment certainly didn't reflect a show that goes for an affluent/educated demo. He should ride into the sunset and just hang at his ranch. Spend some time with his family before he croaks!
