it is established, all dance fans here.
Some prefer 90sEuro
, some house/trance,
radio-friends hits, freestyle..etc.
[a] if u could have a hd-2, or a LP-Fm in
a medium size market welcoming a dance-friendly
station,what would u want...
-
i know what i would want..but, i am curious to
see what DANCE FANs have to say; versus, other
well-informed posters, on this radio-info.com
website/network that will say, a 2 hr mix show,
fine, but then use logic, to justify, why a hot-a/c
can pull off a once a week show...this is catered
to the fans of dance radio..
-
-this one is a little trickier..say, if u are
put in charge of an existing station...and, they
want a dance-presence, however, they dont want
(for example) "Bass in your face London" Public domain,
during the noon-lunch request, and, follow that one with..
"crazyFrog" or, underworld "born slippy" ...but a little
some thing for everthing..what direction would u head your
"party-fm"/"power-fm" radio station into??
ie: a 'hybrid' of rock..sample playlist:
(blur song #2/dance artist, drowning pool
"bodies"[for the bpm]/ and then a dance artist]..
hip-hop friendly dance playlist:
ie: sean paul, dance artist, nelly, dance artist...etc.
or, a "feel good" dance friendly station-sample playlist:
ez-rock/light-FM:
"murder on the dance floor/artist: forgot" ; "sweet surrender" by
Sarah McLachlan; dance remix of celion dion "heart will go on"(deja-vu
cover/mix); "i surrender" by artist: ???/forgot; lionel richie's
'dance' material; perhaps dj-sammy("heaven") and possibly "boys of
summer" ; etc..etc.
totally: disco'dance
or, a '80s' dance station/playlist:
some current/2000-2003 songs, but mostly:
pet shop boys; new order, and those "80s" dance hits
(living in oblivion) followed by alice-dee jay; then,
some thing like "whip-it"/80s dance..mixed in, with
daft punk "one more time" and then: pop goes the world.
or variation of above:
pet shop boys; then play nine inch nails; then, bassment jaxx;
new order...followed by: more 'indie 80s music..that had
a 'dance feel to it'
total novelity:
all crazyfrog/"come on down"-crystal waters; "cotton eye joe"
etc...etc, but mix in the chart toppers..along w/ the ones
that (for good reason) never saw the light of day...
including those "awful/or inspiring" remixes, of
current hits (see: mega dance volumes 1 and 2); or
songs from long ago ( "somewhere over the rainbow"
and "memories" ) at a bpm that would make fred astire,
do the macrena on aire
(Scooter: falls best into this format. Even though, he
is not Novelity, but any stretch..his "public image" would
be classified as 'techno'). Point of a station, would be
to try to drop the "techno" label, and actually 'educate'
the north american listening audience..not to freely accept,
dance music, but to be aware the diff. between dance/techno...
Feel free to create your own style of a dance station
that you would most likely want to see...or tweeek, what i have
(above). *Again, I know my fave. style, but i want to see what
you post in reply to my inquiry. I dont want to post mine, and
have just off-shoots/and critique from that; i want the
whole spectrum..I know, this type of blanket question, doesnt
take in effect any...well, say, it is a market where alot of
hip hop dominates..well, then of course, a 60/40 split..but,
say the radio dial, has seen a few facelifts, in a short history,
and a station is trying to re-establish itself..using that,
