Best of Phoenix for KDKB? Really?

Is that a joke? The whole station's literally computer-operated -- no live-person DJ's -- and they rotate a playlist of a dozen songs that would have been the cat's meow back in the 90's. New Times is really getting their bills paid this year.

While I agree there is plenty of room to expand their gold selections, they have had live jocks from 10am to midnight m-f and occasionally on weekends for several months now. They also sound way more current especially compared to 103.9 the last few years they were alternative. Overall I am glad we have alternative back on the radio. They sound much better than I thought they would 3 months in to their existence.

OK, I've listened, but still confused as to what actually constitutes alternative in today's world. I grew up listening to new-wave which evolved into alternative with many different sub-genres, but I haven't really been "into" alternative for about 10 years or so.

While I also agree there is plenty of room to improve, KWSS-LP is already there without even trying. I cannot begin to count the number of songs I heard on KWSS-LP first before hearing elsewhere. They (KWSS-LP) really got robbed of that Best of Phoenix. Besides, KDKB really doesn't deserve it after what they did to their on-air talent.

New Times has always been a rather eclectic publication targeted at 20-year olds. The Best of Phoenix has been suspect for a great many years.
