Best Optimod 8400 Preset??

Looking for a semi-aggressive, cume centered preset.

My engineer says the "Impact" preset is not available on our Optimod.(should I be suspicious?)What is a comparable setting?

Thanks in advance!

The Gregg preset is a good setting if you have software version 3.0 or greater. You probably have the 2.0 version if you don't have "impact."
Go to orban.com and download the 3.04 version.....try the "Gregg" setting. It was developed by Greg Ogonowski (spelling??)who developed the beloved "Gregg Labs" processors. If it is too aggressive, modify it.....use the "less-more" adjustment if you are not a processing tweaker.

I suspected our software hadnt been updated...Ok, thanks.

As for the "Gregg" preset...Does it need any spatial enhancement or is that part of the preset? What station or type of sound is it comparable to? I read the manual and kinda "get it", but would like a different take.
I like that classic, vintage CHR sound, only with minimal pumping.

Agreed....back off the bass just a little.

One of the great things about modern processors is that you can tweak away and always put it back to something preset if you get into a bad place. The 8400 has a ton of processing power in all the options and parameters you can play with. If you're uncomfortable with messing with individual settings, consider bringing someone in for a day that knows the box and would be willing to teach you what the individual adjustments do and how they all interact. I've been doing this for 30 years and I've never gotten the sound I want from any processor in a single session. It can take days if not weeks to dial it in. Also, much depends on your air chain down stream of the processor. One station's settings won't usually work on another station due to differences in STL's, exciters and transmitters. To really get the sound you want you have to work with the individual parameters over a period of time. The 8400 has it in there, but it can take a little coaxing to find it.
