best places to work

Any thoughts on the best stations for a non-spanish speaking sales manager who has no interest in Clear Channel or Infinity?

No offense dude, but I can't imagine hiring a sales manager who
would have to ask a question like this....not quite the leader
I'd want giving advice to the sales staff...

What a horrible thing to say to someone...dude.
And I would hope a sales manager would do more than "give advice" anyway.

Emmis, ABC, Entravision, Taxi, Mt. Wilson, Saleme of and Radio One are some
of the companies with english langauge stations in LA.

It's true, though, that a sales manager has as a primary duty motivating the rest of the sales staff. So you would want someone with a positive attitude.

None of whom are looking for sales managers at the present time. In addition, Mt. Wilson isn't exactly the most stable work environment, Salem pretty much requires you to be born again to work there, and Entravision is predominantly a Spanish-language media company (Indie is an exception to their usual focus).

Isn't consolidation wonderful in terms of finding a job?<P ID="signature">______________

I hope you're joking. A friend of mine who is OPENLY Athiest has been with Salem/San Diego for 3 years now and is not facing the threat of losing his job anytime soon.

The truth will set you free...

No KM's not kidding, however you must admire his honesty, wit, cleverness, and charm, (alright take out the charm part). He speaks the 'gospel' truth. I worked with Salem L.A., and felt pretty much like an 'outsider', as I was not Christian. Yet I recognized a classy, well run facility if that makes any difference to you?. Let me tell you about my interview at KFSG 96.3, where the General Manager said "too bad you're not Black & Jewish". I was one of those, yet almost ripped out the throat of the G.M. for saying so. What stopped me, my good friend who arraigned the meeting was present. Church Organizations are exempt from the rules that govern Commercial Broadcasters. And about your "friend", you can't speak for him, only the Lord can do so...

Just to be clear....Salem is not a "church organization", but rather a commercial broadcaster subject to the same FCC rules that govern others.
And sorry if you felt that way, and while racism, sexism, and "faithism" probably exists everywhere, but there are a large number of Salem employees who don't subscribe to the the same religious beliefs.

On another note...why is there always an "attacking" tone taken by certain folks here?

thanks for the info

I was wondering about that last part, myself. I am a 15-year veteran of radio sales who doesn't live anywhere near L.A. Certainly, I know who owns radio stations in your market. What I was hoping to learn was the best places to work in your market. Perhaps, firsthand knowledge from people who have worked at stations in L.A. that were composed of productive teams of interesting and engaging people. I wasn't expecting vitriol. Regardless, I appreciate the info from those of you who took the time to respond. I suppose I'll do my research in a more friendly environment.
