Best Radio Line This Weekend

Heard this during the Ohio State game on Saturday, on WING. "And now back to Super Bowl 43 on ESPN 1410, WING." Really? They moved it to September? Might want to purge that computer! Speaking of WING, if you had a business to advertise, would you do it here? Several times an hour a spot is chopped off, airing 5 or 10 seconds only, because apparently no one there can program the automation correctly. And since they won't put anyone in the studio for even 5 minutes once a week to run the EAS test, they usually destroy parts at least 2 spots everytime an EAS test runs. Wanna bet they still charge the clients full price for these screwed up spots? No wonder "Dayton's First Radio Station" is now one of Dayton's last place radio stations.

It is a shame that WING continues to have these kind of problems. It has been stated many times here that Radio One and now Main Line could care less about the station and the AM band. There is no excuse cutting off spots and other audio bits.

The station needs to be more than an ESPN jukebox. Their afternoon local show is weak. They need to have someone with real sports experience and take control of this station in terms of developing new local programming. They can create a buzz and make some money along the way.
The problem it seems that no one there cares.

The same probelm is also happening at WSAI 1360 in Cincinnati. I can't stand the fFox sports programming. It is another in a long line of wasted AM stations.

I can just hear the people jumping on how you can't make money any longer at WING or WSAI.
The problem is they don't know how to do it. There are pros out there who can do it.

Okay Mainline..enough of this haphazard hogwash (to put it mildly).

I''ve kept off WING since the early 90s when it tried sattellite oldies after Kirkie's morning show...it hasn't been the same since. CNN headline news in the 90s, Then afterward that station really hasn't mattered to me anyore. They don't want to put anything into it no matter what it airs. (Is Gene By Golly turning in his grave yet???)

Make an offer to sell or donate it to Radio Maria. I know a person there who is praying they will get it someday.

Couldn't agree more that the afternoon show is weak. I don't understand why they just don't preempt Doug Gottlieb's show and just do the local show from 4-7 weekdays like 980 WONE does. It's part of the reason why I like WONE or WING. Also I am not a big fan of ESPN Radio programming

I have to admit I haven't listened to WING much lately when I'm in town but I though the only local programing they had was on Saturday morning with a racing show of some sort? Who's on in the afternoon? Do they streem?

The afternoon show is called Dayton's Sports Scene hosted by the PD Mark Neal and no they don't stream online. Another reason I like WONE over WING

WONE should have better ratings but ESPN outdraws Fox. As far as local, that's going to be a challenge when you aren't a major sports market but are next door to one. Can you really talk about the Flyers and Raiders all year?

From what I have heard of it, the guy on "Dayton's Sports Scene" only talks about the Flyers occasionally, never covers WSU at all, and the rest of it is generally OSU/Bengals/etc or the same old national topics we could hear if they just left the ESPN bird on for that hour.
