Best Radio Station - KLLI-105.3 FM - Really?

Hmmm...I thought the sky was falling??? "1053 is in the crapper" "When will they flip formats" Apparently things aren't quite as bad as some of you WANT it to be! But then again people that post on this board do know it ALL. LAUGHABLE!

Yeah.......and we all know the Dallas Observer is one of the area's premier newspapers. And their awards? The paper recently won the Missouri Lifestyle Journalism Award. How about that?

Look, it's a weekly newspaper that is most well know for it's personal ads. Thier "Writers Choice" award is not an Oscar or a redeeming vote for the current programming on 105.3.

By the way, you just posted on this board.....are you not one the "laughable" posters? ;D

The station is still terrible!!! They need to get rid of Gavin, and the whole staff and flip the station to something else!! Russ could always work at KVIL or KLUV.

Washington Post, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, The Dallas Observer........benchmarks of journalism all.

Can someone please point me to the "credible" newspaper that spend their time rating radio stations...I'm afraid all we have is the Observer, but hey as long as all of you can find something wrong with it I guess it has to be inaccurate...I'm just guessing, but I'll bet if a so called credible newpaper came out with any accolades toward KLLI the comments would read something like "Well what do they know about radio...shouldn't they be writing about something more important anyway?"

And by the way when I said Laughable I was referring to all the "experts" on these boards that pretend they have some sort of inside track to the DFW radio market. I don't pretend to...I just know what I like to listen to, and KLLI happens to be that! Now what? ;D

The Dallas Observer is located where? Maple and Oak Lawn...pretty much in the middle of Gay Town. I follow the news of the day and the OBSERVER is who? Thought so...one of those freebies that is good for putting down for your dogs to pee on. KLLI's core audience is Men who think it is ok to hit on women or are already convicted domestic abusers. KLLI will be gone as of Q1 of 2009...mark my words...they are already doing format research over at CBS for KLLI. The deck is stacked against Russ with the Tarrant County DA's 90% conviction rate. For KLLI it is over!

From the article

You go up and down the dial searching for something to listen to........ You're listening to professionals paid to sound like amateurs......And yet you listen, and you keep listening and before long, you've set the station as a preset on your car stereo. And now you don't listen to anything else. And you hate yourself for it, but you kind of enjoy it too.

Is this some crazy hypnotist sh@t to try get me to listen? It's more like I turn on the Ben and Skin show and I get very bored and sleepy. I suppose that could be 105.3's strategy come ppm to increase tsl. It doesn't matter whether you are conscious or not as long as the radio is on. ;)

Wow Redbull...that's a pretty bold statement. Tell me which radio station do you listen to that caters to homophobic know-it-alls that still live in apartments/mom & dad's basement (putting paper down for your dogs)?

I've read some of your posts on different threads...you're bitter bitter person. Did life deal you a bad hand? Does it make you feel better to bash people and talk about things you don't know about? I feel blessed that I'm not you, that is if your comments truly reflect your person...kinda sad

And if I'm not mistaken Q1 of 2009 is right around the corner, what happens when we get to Q2 and KLLI is as its always been? I'm sure we'll all hear from you...right?

I think they're location is irrevelant. The Ticket, The Wolf, KLIF and that other station are all located there as well.

Tex, that would be a toss up between WBAP and KZPS.....

All kidding aside, this is a station that is having alot of problems at present, most brought on by sheer idiotic managment and a on-air personality whos running their agenda (Russ). When one of your on-air personalities tunes into a rivals station (Skin/The Ticket) and then it gets broadcast on-air, you really have to wonder how much longer the station is going to keep it afloat. Like I said elsewhere, this station has 6-9 mos tops before they flip...

I love the Observer. They do a great job providing a subversive voice to the insane political machine in Dallas.

That said, the writer's choice was KLLI. That's how many votes?

The readers choice was another station.

No one ever said everybody hated KLLI's programs. It appears some of those that do like the station just happen to be writers at the Observer. It doesn't invalidate the critics.

Let's see here...in reverse numerical order

107.5, 106.1, 102.9, 99.5, 96.3, 94.9 and 89.7...WBAP 820. I'm not bitter...truth hurts though...oh by the way I just got married and I just got a great job. And I have great friends too! I'm blessed and I thank the Lord for it.

That's great Redbull...its unfortunate that your statements dont reflect your blissfull exsistence ::)

And this "truth" you speak of I certainly think its irresponsible to paint everyone who listens to a particular radio station as someone who advocates domestic abuse. C'mon lets be a little civil and not so blatantly cynical to suggest that one's taste in radio programming dictates their day-to-day activity.

Again it just rubs me the wrong way when people speak with such certainty, and really I can't phathom where that certainty could come from short of being an "insider" which seems to me no one here truly is, as much as they would like to be! That was my point when I first posted on this thread and I will leave it at that.

Cheers to all and lets try to keep it above the belt kids! 8)

Cavin and Russ are going to run the station into the ground, and that all there is to it. If CBS were smart, they would fire both Gavin and Russ!! or make Russ play music over at KVIL!!

I cant believe anyone is giving any credence to that rag the Observer. ::) Lets face it, whether you like Russ or not he is still a dominant personality in this industry here in Dallas. Gavin can stay or go and Russ will still find creative ways to bust the new guys sack no matter what. CBS keeps clearing checks and he still has MANY listeners. Face it, most of the bitter people in these forums that hate Russ, listen the most. So you can wish he would go away but it aint gonna happen. Russ has carried that station since Stern left. Just like TV news trgedy makes for great viewing/listening. Not to mention that Russ' appeal has something to do with the fact that his listeners identify with him. So, if you hate him, turn him off. Its that easy. Stop posting multiple threads about how you hate him. Get over yourselves.

The only time I ever listen to Live 105 is if there is a NASCAR race on. Talk radio still belongs on AM as far as I am concerned.

As far as The Observer goes, that's the place for massage ads and for less than honest stories written by angry gays and social misfits. Oh, and the rates don't justify the resuls in terms of advertising.

Russ will walk off virtually scot-free and remain on-air. Gavin allows himself to be controlled by the aforementioned "alleged criminal" Russ.

Even if it flips, which I doubt, I hope the races remain on the air.

Such intelligent statements.

The first one has to do with what? Are you saying that because the Observer is located in a primariloy gay populated part of town, that makes them less credible?

The second statement... I assume you've polled the core audience and found this statement to be fact? If you haven't, could you please point me to the source of information that says the core audience of KLLI is men who smack women around? I'd really like to see this research.

The third statement... Have you been sitting in on the meetings at KLLI? Has Brian Purdy or David Henry actually told you what kind of research is being done? As far as I know, most stations are constantly researching their options on how to make the station better... but if you've got some sort of inside information I'd like to know what it is.

Or, you can continue talking out of your hole. ;)
