Best recordings of 2009

I saw this topic on another site and wondered what I would be able to list.

Dial Global's standards format has added or tested so many new records this year, though some were only aired a few times. I don't remember what most of these were.

Obviously, in this format, only a few of the SONGS will be new, but the records sound as good as they would have when the songs were popular--no, better, because better technology exists.

2 picks: Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed A Dream" and the late Dan Fogelberg's "Love In Time."

The Fogelberg CD was released in September and contains one of the best soft AC songs in years, "Sometimes A Song." It was previously available as a download in 2008 to benefit prostate cancer research.

Everyone's heard Susan's "I Dreamed A Dream," and it's one of my favorites, but there's another nice one on the CD which I think is equally strong, "Who I Was Born To Be." I'm not completely sure, but I think I read somewhere that this song was an original for this CD.

Another one... The "Soundtrack" CD by Linda Eder, featuring songs from movies and Broadway. Not a clunker in the bunch, but my favorites are her soulful rendition of the Yvonne Elliman hit "If I Can't Have You" and a rather jazzy version of Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin'." Nice instrumentation to accompany Linda's smooth vocals, too.
