Best Restaurant Music Ever Made

That is the title of this article in the NY Times:

http://boss.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/...-NYT-MOD-MOD-M128-ROS-1209-HDR&WT.mc_ev=click

Some interesting picks are listed. I've always liked "Kind of Blue" but never thought about the Miles Davis album as restaurant music. But I can see where it would work.

The article also mentions "Getz/Gilberto (featuring A. C. Jobim)". I know several young women who find Bossa Nova music romantic, sexy, soothing and danceable. So I can see where that would be great for background as well.

There are a few selections that I'm not familiar with so it looks like I have some album buying to do.

Remember when some "beautiful music" stations played "dinner music" (the shows had names like "Candlelight & Wine")?

Here's a hilarious cartoon spoof:

Looks more like an 'invitation to beer and beef hash' instead of candlelight and wine.

That must have been in the very early days of the beautiful music format. But even with that format, radio in those days was still about theater of the mind--in this case setting a mood that may not have existed in reality.
