Best second radio

I currently have a Grundig S350DL. I kind of want to get a second radio. I have three options in mind: Tecsun PL-310, Tecsun PL-380, and Sony ICF-SW7600GR. Which one of these are the best? Factors include price, DXing, selectivity, bands available, and portability.

I suggest the TECSUN PL-606...portable - inexpensive - and a DX monster

The ICF-SW7600GR is very, very bad at FM sensitivity. If you want to DX FM, RUN, don't walk from the Sony. You will get massive overload!

I recommend the PL-380 out of the three. I've heard great stories about it. I have a PL-660 that does good with FM (once you get out of the city of course!)

I have one. Very nice. But the volume control crapped out after only 2 years. :-[

The original Sony ICF-7600W did not have an FM selectivity problem. I've had one for 30 years, and whenever I have lived where there is a first adjacent FM situation, it manages to separate them provided they are somewhat equal in signal strength. Because it is the "W" version, it has 76 to 108 MHz FM band coverage, which would only make first adjacent tuning that much more difficult. The dual conversion architecture has obviously been a great success for Sony because they have kept the "7600" in generations of new design. I suspect if you have one of the family with poor FM selectivity that it is defective.

I've never tried the narrow FM ceramic filter modification in one, perhaps that is a good weekend project. I suspect it will vastly improve first adjacent selectivity, and might have a marginal effect on SW / AM performance as well.

I had bad luck with a Tecsun PL-310 with the tuning knob falling off of the radio...
But much better luck with the PL-606 and PL-390.

The Tecsun 606, 380 and 390 are fabulous radios. Great sensitivity and selectivity on both AM and FM. The 606 is the smallest of the three, but doesn't offer direct frequency tuning. The 210 is a good choice, too. Very small but the FM selectivity is not as good as the other models. On the other hand, you can program 1700 memories on the 210. A nice feature is you can program a mix of AM,FM and SW stations for each page. When travelling, this is a nice feature to have

How good is it on shortwave, with or without the sync detect? (Probably can't be much worse than my Yacht Boy...)

So, how good a rig is the SW7600GR on shortwave, with or without the sync detect?

SW is extremely noisy around my area, will this rig improve it/make it worse?
