July 4th weekend on the North Coast!

If anyone has listened this weekend, you would have heard just about every station has a themed weekend.

What stations do you think put forth a great effort, and what was the theme for that specific station?

I must nominate two stations on the North Coast that I felt put a grand effort on the weekend programming...

WCPZ FM SANDUSKY - MIX 102.7 American Vacation Weekend

The station took a journey to different states all over the country and highlighted where certain artists hailed from and a little bit about each state. Good job to Randy, Mo, Dan and Tony on putting together a great weekend. I live outside of Lorain and I must admit that the station sounded great!

WQAL FM CLEVELAND - Q104 Red, White and Q party

The station kept the whatever format over the weekend, but gave it a patriotic twist. Must say, GREAT JOB! I was in Rocky River on Saturday and overheard a couple of people talking about how they listened to Q104 for the first time and they love the station! So whatever Allen, Rebecca and Brian are doing, they are doing it right...

If you know a station that had a great themed weekend, post it.

I was driving back from a weekend at Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada (much better than the U.S. side!). Listened to WBUF/Buffalo aka "JACK". I don't see what all the hubub over this adult AC. I'm not impressed. Got to hear NextMedia's ROCKET 101 out of Erie. Great mainstream rocker. Imaging was big market. On par with any big city rocker. Coming thru C-Town I listened to the usual suspects; WMMS, WMJI. I checked out MIX. Blah. For sh*ts n giggles I tuned in Q104. Mostly because my buddy Scott Free sent me an mp3 outtake of the station's VO (Earl Mann), hilarious! I initially didn't think Mann is the right voice for a female targeted station, based on the dry vo. After listening - for almost 90 minutes - to the Red, White and "Q" weekend, I was likin' the sound of Mann, and the weekend itself. It was basically an 80's/early 90s weekend re-packaged, but done well.

WXKR Toledo (classic rock) was doing their "All-American Southern Fried, Red White & Blue Independence Day Weekend". I'm a bit biased since I image the station, but I must say, musically the station rocked out! PD Dan McClintock was all over it this weekend. Station kick WIOT's a$$!!!

Alliance, OH is NOT North Coast Radio

What's the matter, Donnie Peterson III...forget your password to your other 15 or so aliases you have on here.

Bah, it's just the next in a long line of D.P. III's shots at Keith Kennedy.

I quote for you the first entry of his "blog," which I'm sure will be chock full of format flip and ownership rumors:

Why am I not surprised? I didn't even bother to click the link. Thanks for saving me the time. ;)

The individual that created the North Coast Radio blog is NOT Donnie Peterson.

I know this for fact, as I spoke to the individual on the phone earlier today. He is a currently employed radio personality in Northern / Northeast Ohio and was, until I informed him of it, totally in the dark about WZKL and it's owner's habits on this board.

I stand corrected, my friend.<P ID="signature">______________

Hmm...very interesting, but I'll take your word for it. The 'style' of that thread is oh-so-similar to that of other aliases.
