Best Station

Maybe not the best station but WLXN and 99 9 sound extremely good. There is only one problem, the AM is am AM and the FM is a translator which can only be heard in some part of Davidson County. To bad they don't have a strong FM for it is a really good station.

Yes the 100,000 watt FM is lease to EMF but they have installed a 250 watt translator on the AM and are doing Oldies.

A translator runs on a FM frequency 99.9 not an AM frequency 1440! BIGAPE!

Correct Big Ape. That is what I meant but guess I did not express it well. The translator is on 99 9 and "translates" the AM 1440 signal. How is that station doing in that market anyway? The ARB does not show it doing well but am sure that is due to not reaching the entire metro.

It is too bad the 99.9 translator isn't strong enough to penetrate much into the triad and beyond. I drive often from Charlotte to Winston Salem and it is a great station to listen to and has a good energy. I can listen to it from about Salisbury up into downtown W-S, but much of the time on either side it is weak with frequent dropouts. (ie: HD radio like). When at my family's house in NW Winston, it is very weak and almost nothing there so I would imagine that most radio scans would not stop on 99.9 for the casual listener in much of the triad. That is too bad because it is better than about any other station in the Triad except for maybe 98.7 (my personal opinion of course). Then again, 94.1 burns the paint off of W-S and is strong in most of Charlotte and other directions except to the east, so go figure.

::) ::) I would probably look for a change in that situation pretty soon! BIGAPE

Don't count 99 9 out just yet. There is a good signal in all of Davidson Country and into Salisbury, High Point, and the south end of Winston Salem. While the signal may be weak the station sounds good and just needs a stronger sales presence in the market.

Are they gonna make 99.9 stronger APE?

Nope 250 watts is all ya can do on the translator! As for 94.1...100,000 watts that's another discussion in which I said months ago I would not get into..
