My personal favorite has been WZPL-Indianapolis. Not normally mentioned but I love it, especially the chances they take with programming. Very often I've seen them as one of the firsts to jump on a song that was slow taking off, and then ended up being a monster.

And if you say WDCG-Raleigh, you need pills to fix your condition.

Z-99.5 (WZPL), 94.5 PST, and 93.7 STW are all very Adult Leaning. In fact, WZPL classifies itself as a Hot AC while WPST might as well move over to the Hot A/C panel as well with its current sound. STW on the other hand has always been a very eclectic Adult and Rock friendly CHR. There used to be more stations like it in the 80s like the legendary 100.7 WMMS Cleveland or Reading's Y-102.

Anyways, G-105 Raleigh definitely kicks their butts with a better mix of music, and great on-air talent. WDCG has Randi West whose also been heard on a lot of other CHRs, they have Geller who was on Q-100 Atlanta, and then there's the long establilshed showgram in the morning.

Absolutely on a few cases. The Showgram is one of the best non-syndicated morning shows in the country. Geller is absolutely brilliant. Randi is alright for what it's worth (I have a personal problem with her, but she's okay) The MIX of the music is well managed, but they are ABSOLUTELY HORRID with music selection. WKZL, the small top 40 station 80 miles north slaughters them with being current. Randi/Brody (the MD) won't even touch a song before it's spent two months rocking the charts and everyone else had added them already. It's pathetic. Very often, they'll add a song and a week later, that artist will drop their next single.

G-105 is selective and conservative when it comes to adding new titles, and especially with playing them during the day. They're hardly the only ones though. Go ahead, log on to yes.com, type in KRBE and take a look at the morning through afternoon logs. Compare Houston's CHR with WDCG. At the same time, both stations are winners in the ratings and cume so they must be doing somethhing right.
Anyways, heres a list of the most played songs at G-105:

And here's Houston's 104 KRBE:

And here's 107.5 WKZL which serves the Greensboro/Winston-Salem market (which is about the same market size as Raleigh-Durham)

Raleigh is also fairly close to Norfolk, which doesn't have a true CHR. The closest thing is Energy 106:

Or you can look at Fayetteville, which is an hour south of Raleigh, where the closest thing is Q-98

Yeah, it's definitely working for them and therefore, I'm happy. I wouldn't expect them to change anything. I've just have a take-more-chances mindset in programming our station (College CHR station 30 miles from WDCG) and so I'd love to see the same thing from WDCG. I mean, when I can pick out which ones can be hits and which ones won't with no research at all before they start impacting, I'd hope that the Randi/Brody could at WDCG.

Don't take me wrong. I love G. Just everyone has thoughts about everything, and these have been mine.

First of all, how many posts have we done on these topics. Agian, you gatta give it to Z100 and FLZ!! Love em!

But I live in Mobile, AL and WABB has been struggling this past summer/early fall and they have a great PD now which hopefully will "tune up" the station! But yeah, ypu gatta give them the credit!
