best top 40/Variety top 40 in new england

Hey guys I was curious what you might think is the best top 40 in New England. A couple of stations I can think of is kiss 108 in Boston, Z 97.1 in VT, you have WBLI in long island although technically not new england technically covers most of the coastline of CT and the eastern-parts of NYC like fairfield county. and They play a larger playlist than Z100 in NYC which covers a bunch of SW CT. (z my #4 preset) (wbli #5 preset) in CT.
others on my travels I know of are (KC 101.3 not really making it to greenwich because of 101.1 WCBS Fm in NYC) and Kiss 95.7 in CT kiss can play some wicked tech-no weekends. I am not that familiar with Maine or providence but I figure I put in my thoughts. I would not count out a variety station Like Moo 92 in VT or WTIC in CT...
thoughts?

Doesn't the phrase "variety Top 40" convey images of "jumbo shrimp", "military intelligence" or "Walmart customer service"? Maybe it's me. ;)

Jamie, I think this is groundbreaking moment for you.. The first post / topic ever from you that omits the WTOS-FM or WWLR call signs ! Wow ! :D 95-Triple X in B-Town.. Fly 92 in Albany which gets into southern and western VT.. Z97 outside of the syndicated morning show sounds good. WKNE FM in Keene sounds good for a 'variety / Hot AC"..
I can these stations pretty well at my listening outpost.. My only gripe on 95 Triple X is it that it appears that they don't stream..

My bad I forgot a few... Fly 92 does make it into NW CT, Eastern MA, and VT a bit. I used to go to Marvelwood in Kent Ct 2001-2004 on top of Skiff mountain. It was the old Kent School girls campus. I was on top of a hill where NYC stations won out in places on our small campus and in some areas Albany won out. NYC was 70 miles away. Albany was 80 miles away. I always tried to Get 92.3 K-rock instead of Fly 92.3 when I was homesick for a few days but then I got Back into things with Slater on WCCC.

I don't know which one I'd rank as the best, but it certainly wouldn't be Kiss 108. What a bland station they've become.

I don't know who to rank the best either. thats why I figure I ask you guys :D

No doubt about the X. The people at Z100 work very hard to make them sound so great.

As for them not streaming, it's because "that's how you lose jocks", because there's no need to make sure as many people hear the station as possible. It's much more important to keep people from leaving their $27,000/year jobs for which dozens of replacements will apply.

95Triple X is the best that VT has to offer. WJYY in Concord, NH and WKNE in Keene are very good as well! In fact, the 2 NH stations do share 1 common thread....The nighttime gal on WJYY and the afternoon guy on WKNE, are both doing well, after Marbles did away with them at Z97.1!! Speaking of the once mighty "Z", I wouldn't even consider that station as one of the tops in NE!! It once was, but not anymore! No presence, no aura, it's been reduced to one of Catamounts weakest and most ignored! Right out of your playbook, huh Marbles?

Best Top 40 station in New England is a toss up, Fun 107( Fairhaven/New Bedford MA) or 96.3 The Rose (Cape Cod MA) . Kiss 108 ( Medford/Boston ) is Soooo LAME !

Hahaha.

Thanks for the responces. I will definately try to tune to some of these stations in my travels. do some of them have an online stream?
from listening to Z100 this morning down in NYC to driving up to VT listening to Z 97 up in VT later today to ski and to Take care of a radio station the oz says thank you!!!

I always liked "92 Moose" up in Augusta ME...it beams well into SW ME and parts of NH near North Conway. Always listened to it when I vacationed up that way.

IMHO, Kiss 95.7 and KC 101 are absolutely awful, both trainwrecks. For me, it's got to be Z100.

92 Moose isn't a bad adult top 40 station, although they do date themselves by playing 80's in regular rotation during the day and having an 80's lunchtime request hour, rather than updating it (as Z107 in Bangor did a few years ago)

Moose was the only game in Augusta until a few years ago when WFMX "Mix 107.9" launched and lately is sounding more hot AC, making 92 Moose sound even worse than they used to (and Mix sounding more "work friendly")

WBIMDJ, next time you're in NH, check us out... Magic 104 in NoCo. We're hot AC, but thanks to the tourism and mountains, I tend to push us in the CHR/top40 direction music-wise.

My only question is: What makes your pick a great "Top 40/CHR" station? I'm too close to the fire to make a reasonable judgement.

I listened to Z97 on the way back to Boston yesterday. Music sounds alright, and the PM driver did a good job of relaying information about that night's tree lighting ceremony in Rutland.

However, the Bob and Sheri promo was a total waste of time. Testimonials from listeners about how much they love the show (with Southern accents, no less!) don't make me want to tune in. Morning show promos should be either actualities or feature teases (and I don't hear enough of the former anymore.)

What ever happened to 104.3 WABK? I was there back in '87 when the Moose signed on. Is WABK still in existance or did it go dark?
