Best way?

What's the best way to get more local channels with a digital tv? I see many TV channel listings online and I have hard time picking them up. For Example KBTX-TV, according to FCC.orgbthis station should cover where I live and I get it like every 3 months. Am I doing something wrong? Just purchased a new RCA antenna and still can't get the channel. My antenna supposedly has a 40 mile range? I don't live in a multi floor building, there aren't many trees to block the signal either.

You didn't say how good of an antenna you have (perhaps give the model #?) or whether it is an indoor or outdoor aerial. Keep in mind that Houston is a huge urban sprawl, and most of the LPTVs really don't have adequate power to cover everything. You need a good quality antenna, preferably directional, for decent reception.

One thing I have tried: Do channel scans on warm, humid nights when tropo conditions are kicking up. This will increase signal strength and better the chance of your TV locking on to the stations.

KBTX is visible at my Cy-Fair location, but I have to fiddle with the antenna to get it to lock in during a scan. Nice to have as a saved station during NFL season, as some of the CBS games they run are different from those aired on KHOU.

RCA INDOOR FLAT HDTV ANTENNA I think the model is ANT4WHZ that's the only numbers I see.

Since we moved I can’t watch many regular antenna stations. I can only watch FOX 26, CW 39 (very choppy) and Telemundo 47. DIGITAL TV SUCKS!

We live on Remington Ranch 45 and Rankin Rd

Put up an outside antenna..not a cheap flat job but a real antenna... preferably with a good preamp..I recommend a Channel Master 3016 antenna and CM 7777 or 7778 preamp

If you stayed in SW Houston or the Inner Loop, you could get away with a flat antenna (the 21st-century version of rabbit ears) since it's right below the Missouri City sticks. In North Harris and Montgomery, a roof mounted exterior antenna would be necessary. I can get away with the antenna in the attic here in Cinco Ranch, about 10-15 miles line-of-sight (roughly along the diagonal Fort Bend County line) from the Missouri City antenna farm.

We have some outdoor antenna, don’t know what it’s called but it still doesn’t get many channels.
